A little bit about Myself:Born & raised in South Africa, JohannesburgFamily of 5: Youngest of 3 girls!Sisters: Eldest - Khethiwe, Middle - ThobileMother: nursing-matron Baragwanath Hospital,

biggest hospital in Southern Hemisphere.Father: retired and enjoying his farm!

Project close to my heart: I volunteer as a ‘mentor’ in the Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP): 5

year commitment, especially in the latter years of high school, to mentor student/s from disadvantaged backgrounds.

An SSP mentor is someone who:- Is an advisor, friend, role-model, confidant & counselor, encourages student

to work hard, stay focused, & if you do so life has limitless possibilities.

Lunch-time.Distinction: still meeting

in same building where club was chartered 55 year ago.

PROJECTS (some of the many)Play pumps installed in

a number of schools with no plumbing at all.

Assisting high school students like ‘Lukhanyo’ blind & a very gifted young man.

Some Quick South African Facts: Population: approximately 48 million. Combined land mass of: Germany, Italy, and France (1,221,037 sq km) 11 official languages: majority speak English as well as a traditional

language. Made up of 9 provinces: I live in Gauteng Province. Three Capital cities:1. Cape Town – Parliamentary capital.2. Pretoria – Administrative capital3. Bloemfontein – Judicial capital. However Johanesburg is the largest city – Economic hub of S.A. Current head of State: Jacob Zuma Currency: Rand ZAR (R)

A bit of South African History:Independence: 31 May 1910, union of four British

colonies which evolved to full independence. Became the Republic of S.A. in 1961 and withdrew from the Commonwealth.

S.A. was under Apartheid rule, 1990 it was dismantled, same year was the RELEASE of Nelson Mandela from prison, in Robbin Island, after spending 27 years locked up for fighting for FREEDOM & EQUALITY for all.

First Democratic Elections in 1994: first Black African president , Nelson Mandela.
