We would like to list down some steps for students who want to be a one of DMCers this year. • You need to make sure you love to follow up what is going on in our society and want to work in journalism field aſter graduated • You must be under 22 years old, currently in grade 12 or graduated from high school. • You must buy DMC application form. For current grade 12 students, you must choose DMC in you scholarship form providing by your high school. For high school graduates, you need to go to DMC to buy form directly. • Preparing for written test, you must practice your general knowledge in Khmer and English, your English level, your knowledge about journalism and some new social issues. • You will be inform about the date and time of your oral test if you pass the written exam. Please show your confidence during the interview if you want to study journalism. • e final result of DMC successful candidates will be released on the same day with the result all state university. You can check the result in our campus, website and Facebook page. Department of Media and Communication (DMC) was established in 2001 under the roof of Royal University of Phnom Penh. DMC is the only leading state unversity teaching professional media management. Every year, DMC provides full bachelor scholarship to 30 potential students. More than a decade of training, we have been producing hundreds of professional media practitioners who are currently working in the government, NGOs as well as private companies with a high payment. Year 1Students will learn foundation courses which help them to understand more about life of university students, social issues and introduction to media and communication. At the end of the year, they will be ready to be university students and be ready for the main courses next year. The courses for this year are:

• General English• English Writing skill• English for Journalism• Khmer Language Composition• Introduction to College/University Study• Computer Skill (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)• Introduction to Political Science• Principle & Practical of Journalism• Population and Geographical Economy• Introduction to Social Psychology• Cambodian and World history• Introduction to Economics• Introduction to Mass Communication

Year 2This year, we focus on print media. Students will learn the process of having news for newspaper, magazine or online website with professionalism. Some students can also work as freelence reporters in news agencies. In the second semester, students need to work on a magazine project whose theme has been selected from the students. At the end of this year, students are required to do their internship in any media institution, so they can compare theory they have learned in class with real practice. The courses for this year are:

• Journalistic Inquiry and Commentary• News Reporting and Writing • Photojournalism• General English• English Writing skill• Graphic Design and Layout (Adobe Photoshop and Indesign)• Media Law and Ethic• Introduction to Research• Political Journalism

Year 3In the third year, students will learn broadcast media and communication science. In the first semester, they learn radio production, and in the second semester, they learn video and TV production. By the end of the second semester, students can produce documentary films about social issues, and those documentaried will be compelled in a DVD for publication. During the summar vacation, students are required to do the internship, and some potiential students will be sent to do their internship abroad such as Germany, Thailand, India and more.The courses for this year are:

• Principles of Marketing and Advertising• Radio Production• Mass Communication Theories• TV and Video Production• Public Relation• Mass Communication Research• Broadcast Journalism• Media and S ociety• Investigative Journalism• Corporate Communication

Year 4The final year of the academic at DMC, students will learn project management and newsroom management. To graduate from DMC, students are required to do thesis. Studets can choose to do either production thesis or media research thesis. We believe doing the thesis is the best way for students to apply what they have studied since the first year in practice, and it is a good acedemic background for them after their graducation. More importantly, those thesis will improve society in a better way and will become archives for the next generation. The courses for this year are:

• Online Multimedia• Research and Production Thesis Tutorial• Project/Production Management• Multimedia Journalism• Newsroom Management• Critical Issues in Communication Technology and Society

Extracurricular ActivitiesGuest Lecture

Every Friday, DMC invites guest speakers who work in media, communication or other relevent fields to share their knowledge and experi-ences with DMC students.

DMC OutreachEvery year, DMC brings the

third year students to do outreach activities in province.

We want to raise awareness of high school students about

media management major.

InternshipAt the end of the second and third year, students are required to do internship to have a real practice. Potiential students will be given a chance to do internship abroad.

DMC ClubsWe have DMC post, DMC debate, DMC photography

and DMC music. Students are encourage to join any of these

4 clubs, so they can spend their weekend with info-tainment.

DMC Family TripIn every early of the academic year, DMC creates a trip for our students. They are not only making network in this house, but also helping our society with community services.
