Student generated e-content for teaching and learning
literature
BACKGROUND
• Literally elements: title, setting, plot, characters, themes, techniques, relevance and lessons.
• Literally skills: knowledge, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation and application.
• The teaching of literature is centers on these in all the texts taught.
THE CHALLENGE
THE INTERVENTION
• Develop a way to involve learners in the creation of material for e-learning as a way to teach and learn literature.
• Need to make literature more meaningful in line with the students needs and the labour market needs.
• Involve the learners in developing teaching and learning material that meet the demand of 21st century teaching an learning.
• Use of 21st century teaching methodology (methodology that gives the learner environment for innovation)
• Make teaching and learning of literature more exciting.
AIM
• Actively involve learners in the process of creating and generation of e-content for teaching and learning literature.
OBJECTIVES
• To develop a working model for e-content creation for teaching and learning literature.
• To train students in creating e-content for teaching and learning literature.
• To involve learners in the process of e-Content creation
• To make learning literature more exciting• To equip learners with skills vital for their future
careers
ACTIVITIES
• Planning • Brainstorming• Scripting• Rehearing • Recording• Editing • Critiquing • Use
ACHIEVEMENTS
• Videos on the literary elements of title, setting and plot.
• Local digital library• Increased enrollment for literature
EDUCATIONAL VALUE
• Improved understanding of the literary features.
• Better analysis of literary texts. • Relevant interpretation of literary texts• Improved evaluation of literary elements • More interest in learning literature.
LESSONS LEARNT
• Learners can make a great contribution to e-content creation if we make it part of the teaching process
• Learners are more willing to learn from practical experiences such as project based learning.
• It is very possible to develop e-content for teaching arts disciplines.
• Learning that is meaningful is most likely to be supported by stakeholders in the schools.
FUTURE PLANS
• To develop more videos for e-content on all the literary elements for teaching and learning literature.
