TMA 03 Part 6
Summarize how you support and extend children’s learning in your setting. You
should ensure that your support relates to learning across the curriculum, through
the areas of learning or through a holistic approach. You can include additional
practice examples as brief illustrations of key points that you wish to make.
So you are writing about the whole of your practice, not just the two learning
experiences you have covered. You need to cover principles which form the
foundation of your practice in all areas of the curriculum, rather than looking at
the details that underpin any one area (you have just done that in the previous
sections and the last TMA). You have 500 words so you are going to be able to
make 3 or maybe 4 main points (each one probably in its own paragraph.) You
can use some very short illustrations to make your point. You might want to
start with a very short (50 word) introduction…’In this short section I shall be
looking at my practice from xxxx different perspective. First I shall look at
xxxx, then move on to xxxxxx etc finishing with xxxxx.
reflect on and evaluate different approaches and highlight areas you would like to
develop
Look at different ways you might approach learning and try to pick out those you
are or would like to develop.
select three or four approaches that allow you to demonstrate the breadth and
depth of your knowledge, understanding and skills
Here is the limit of three of four approaches…what are the different
approaches, well those linked to major theorists or practioners: Study Topic 3
is absolutely vital so go back and look again. So too is reader 1 chapter 7 and
the DVD materials listed at the start of the Study Topic. You need to show
breadth and depth which means referencing and discussion several different
approaches, with a focus on the way that encountering the course materials has
developed, might develop your practice.
Do not worry too much about the Spider diagram although it is interesting to
see and do, it is an option (note tutors may vary in their view on this). If you
like try an alternative approach, identify three of four approaches which
influence you practice (form the ones you have encountered on the course) link
these to a selection of your roles (remember doing roles in E123?) of your
practice that have changed) It is just a way of tyring to identify three or four
key areas.
