Nut and bolts 2
• Make sure you set out your work properly: see check
list and template
• Write 1 paragraph for each section: no more and no
less unless you are very secure
• Use the language of the guidance as leads to
paragraphs and sentences.
• Support each paragraph with references
Part 1 Introduction (100 words)
• Briefly describe your setting, the child(ren) on whom
you are focusing and the learning experience/activity
that you supported.
• Keep to the word limit, this is very tight.
• Mention the curriculum guidance used: if you are a sole
Practioner exempt from EYFS I would still mention the
EYFS (but contact me if unsure)
2 Planning for learning (200 words)
• Why did you end up doing this activity?
• Where did it come from and where is it going to?
• Use key sentences to make your writing clear: ‘The
main factor that it took into consideration when
supporting this activity was that …’. This learning
experience built on ...’.
• Discuss a recent learning experience that was in some
way ‘inclusive’
3 Supporting learning (200 words)
• A record or observation of the experience. Use an
appendix if lengthy: not maximum of 6 sides or 3 pages
• Be clear about your role were you observing, enabling,
participating, leading? But leave discussion of this to
next section.
4 Reflecting on learning (200 words)
• What did the children ‘get’ from this. What is your
evidence for this? What support do you have for your
assertion?
• What role did you adopt? Why? What was the effect?
What was the evidence?
5 Inclusive practice (200 words)
• You need to use the learning experience to show what
you know about inclusion
• You must refer to relevant course materials to support
this and demonstrate your knowledge
• Note you need to demonstrate your understanding of
equal opportunities, inclusion and inclusive practice
6 Conclusion (100 words)
• Summarise what you have written above,
• You might include in this what you have learned
• Watch your word count 1000 is a maximum
