What is Edmodo?

Edmodo is an online collaborative learning platform for teachers and students.

Who can use Edmodo?

Edmodo sites can be created by teachers, students and parents.

Is Edmodo safe for children to use?

Yes. Students do not need to provide an email to login into a teacher’s or fellow student’s group. A passcode is provided for each group.

Personal Info• Educators provide an email address and

other basic information.

School Info• Accounts are associated with schools. You

are asked to either find your school in the Edmodo database or provide the name and address of the school you work for.

Create the title of the class.

Grade.

Each group is given an interactive home page.

Groups have their own identification code.

You can create notes, alerts, upload assignments, create quizzes and polls for your students.

Snapshot

The Snapshot tab allows you to quickly create quizzes based off of subject standards. Once you select the subject, grade level and copy/paste a standard into the tab, it will generate a quiz for your class.

Student Login

Students enter the group code that you have given them.

They create their own username.

No email is required. Parent email could be used.

First and last names should be used to keep records.

Student/ Parent

Parents have access to student’s page.

Teachers can include parents in everything that is posted to the group page.

Concerns vs BenefitsWhen using Edmodo, the benefits greatly outweigh any potential concerns.

Concerns

Students may have difficulty learning how to use the platform.

Parents do not have a direct connection to what is being posted unless added.

Benefits Communication between teachers, students

and parents is greatly increased.

Students and parents have potential access to all assignments at home.

Edmodo is a perfect “stepping stone” platform for younger students to learn how appropriately interact with educators and peers online.

Students do not need to provide any personal information. Each group is not open to the public unless allowed by the administrator.
