STUDENTS APPEAR TO BE ENGAGED BUT HOW WILL THIS AFFECT STUDENTS OF THE FUTURE?

• "SO MANY OF US HAVE CONCERNS THAT IF THESE YOUNG CHILDREN ARE IMMERSED IN ALL THE TECHNOLOGICAL STIMULATION AT A YOUNG AGE, THAT MAY BE PROBLEMATIC FOR THEIR BRAIN DEVELOPMENT," DR. GARY SMALL, NEUROSCIENTIST FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES.

• DR. GARY SMALL, SAYS USING HIGH-TECH DEVICES MAY BE A GOOD WAY FOR ADULTS TO KEEP THEIR BRAINS YOUNG. AND THOSE YOUNG PEOPLE, WITH ALL THAT FAST COGNITION, MAY EVENTUALLY HAVE TO BRUSH UP ON THEIR FACE-TO-FACE COMMUNICATION SKILLS.

WHAT AM I DOING?• I HAVE ACCESS TO MAKE FORMS OF TECHNOLOGY AND I KNOW THAT I AM JUST SCRATCHING THE SURFACE OF WHAT I COULD DO WITH THE DEVICES. I BELIEVE A TRUE BLENDED APPROACH (USING THE GREAT ASPECTS OF TRADITIONAL TEACHING AND TECHNOLOGY) CAN HELP TO REACH STUDENTS WHO HAVE HIDDEN IN MY CLASSROOM FOR A LONG TIME. SO, AS I PURSUE MY MASTER’S DEGREE, EACH COURSE INTRODUCES ME TO NEW WAYS I CAN INCORPORATE TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM. FOR STARTERS, I AM TRYING TO USE THE TECHNOLOGY I ALREADY HAVE AND TO ASK QUESTIONS WHEN I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE IT. SOMETIMES MY STUDENTS KNOW AND CAN HELP!
