Effective Leadership through Situational Leadership

Since many leadership styles have been identified, and not a single style of leadership is appropriate for every occasion or situation.

The leader is one who can stand the test of "situational leadership” as the most

effective leadership style depends upon the situation.

The most effective styles depends upon the situations are:

The telling leader – one who defines the roles and tasks for each follower

The selling leader – seeks ideas and suggestions from followers

The participating leader – passes along the day-to-day decisions to the followers

The delegating leader – involved in the workgroup's decisions, helps to solve problems, but ultimate control is with the followers

Leaders should know how constantly providing feedback is important for team

members.

Silence - When leaders give no response to their member's work. It mean they are decreasing in both their performance and confidence. Silence can create paranoia.

Criticism - Don't criticise any member in terms of feedback to stop unwanted behavior, which in results hurts the relationship you have with them. They might lose their confidence and start avoiding leaders good behaviors.

Advice - When there is need to tell a member what work behaviors is required, leaders should know how to improve the member's confidence. And the increased performance will be the result.
