What are movie genres? Movie genre is use to categorize different types of movie. For example, horror movies, action movies, comedy movies and so on. The movie that I have chosen to compare the differences are Annabelle and Child’s Play. Annabelle is a 2014 American supernatural horror film directed by John R. Leonetti and written by Gary Dauberman. The main characters for this movie are Mia, John Gordon, Annabelle Higgins and Evelyn. While, Child’s Play is a 1998 horror film directed by Tom Holland and written by Don Mancini. The main characters are Karen Barclay, Mike Norris, Andy Barclay and Charles Lee Ray (chucky)

The evil possessed doll Annabelle is real! The film has been adaptation from a true story that occurred in USA, 1970. The paranormal researcher Lorraine warren served as the consultant for the film, both husband and wife, Ed and Lorraine Warren have more than 50 years of experience of paranormal research. Producer James Wan redesigned Annabelle doll, change the appearance of it into more disturbing and scary but in real life, Annabelle just ordinary rag doll, it seem very cute and adorable but is the most dangerous. The characteristic of Annabelle doll shown in movie is a vintage doll wearing a pure white wedding dress with two pigtailed, red lipstick, long eyelashes with big eyes and blush in cheek. On the other hand, an evil killer doll name chucky which can found in Child’s Play. He is wearing blue overalls over a multi-colour stripe shirt and the three white line on a pair red sneakers, the outfit match his rock and wild red hair and light blue big eyes perfectly.

The personality of chucky is cheeky, mean-spirited little doll. He is quick-witted though thoroughly evil and also has potty mouth always scold people. Chucky is cold-blooded and ruthless, he kill and revenge the people who betray him, he even kill the person that he hate and hinder him by using the weapon, a sharp knife or axe .Chucky is like human have human characteristic, he can think, walk, bleed and even carry a conversation to human. Annabelle doll is villain, demon the main antagonist. She want to possess as many people as possible, she wants human soul. The doll was not possessed because demons don’t possess things, only people, she was just a demon clinging to the doll and control the doll movement to give the impression of a haunting.

The Child’s Play story start by a serial killer name Charles Lee Ray is run away from Chicago police, he try to escape and heads into a toy shop. Once he in there, he is shot by detective Mike Norris and badly injured so he decided to transfers his evil soul into a “Good Guy” doll before he died. After he succeed to transfer his soul into a doll causes the store to explore. Polices find his died body beside the doll, the news report broadcast everyone believes that he is dead. Unfortunately, the evil doll which is the killer also known as Chucky is purchased by Karen Barclay for his son Andy Barclay birthdays’ present. While, Anabelle start with John bought Mia a doll that she has finding for so long but an unfortunate accident start from that night, John and Mia is attack by a couple which is members of satanic cult. The police arrive and shot the man dead while the women suicide, she holding a doll that John bought for Mia when she dead, her blood falls and sinks into its eyes. Thinking the doll is involved in the accident, they decided to throw it away. After Mia give birth they moves into a new apartment. Mia finds the doll that they has been thrown in a box now known as Annabelle.

Chucky reveals his identity to Andy and admit kill Karen’s friend and his crime associate Eddie Caputo, Andy tell his mother and detective Norris but no one believes him and suspected him murder. That night Karen and Norris realize Andy was telling the truth after chucky almost kill them. Chucky’s goal is to become a human again so he try to transfer his soul into Andy’s body because Andy is the first person know his identity. After a fierce fighting Chucky shot by a gun through his heart and dead. After a few days horrible thing happened, Mia found that Annabelle is control by demon and thought she want killed her baby and take Lea’s soul so Mia ready to jump out the

window with holding Annabelle try to save Lea and lucky John pulls Mia back in time, Evelyn who run book shop and always chat with Mia decides to make the sacrifice jump out the window, she know this is the way to atone for her child Ruby’s death. Lea is found save, after Evelyn body is dead beside Annabelle and have not seen Annabelle since then.

A good horror movie will let a person jerked upright in surprise, will cover the eyes and ears by hand, but people willingly pay money to be scared for two hours. Despite the screen will catch audience’ vision but sound effect is one of the important role in horror movie, it really frighten people at the unexpected noise so a good horror film can see from the audiences’ react. Other than that director have to pick a location wisely, because it deepen the human subconscious fear example, a shabby old house, dark surrounding. Both film have a very thrilling and exciting story line, it have coordinate with above conditions.
