EQUIPMENT LIST: SOFTWARE

BLOGGER This was one of the most important pieces of
software we used within our project. Blogger was used to upload our work and document the project whilst it was in progress. Each group member created a blog to post their work on and linked the group blog to it. This enabled each person in the group to check what work the other members were doing. All members of our group were familiar with Blogger, which is one of the reasons we decided to use it over other platforms, such as Tumblr.
PREZI
We also used Prezi as an alternative to PowerPoint to make sure our work style was varied. This platform is interactive and there are a wide range of presentation style to choose from. Everyone in the group had previous experience with Prezi as this was used in last years project.
YOUTUBE
We used YouTube to upload our final project on once it was completed. We chose YouTube as, again, everyone in the group is familiar with it. Also, YouTube is a good networking site on which to target our audience, as it is widely used among young people.
SLIDESHARE
We used Slideshare as an alternative programme to PowerPoint. Slideshare is a website that allows you to upload presentations that they then convert into an embed code so they can be easily posted onto another website (in our case Blogger). Slideshare is simple and quick to use.
GMAIL We all created a Gmail account so we could
communicate throughout the project. Gmail was simple to use so we used this site to create our group email address (as opposed to Outlook). Gmail helped us to communicate documents and photographs during the course of the production.
MICROSOFT WORD Microsoft Word was an essential part of our
project as we used it during pre and post production. Most of the laptops and computers we used throughout the process has a form of Microsoft Word on, which allowed us to type up our ideas. Microsoft Word was one of the most useful programmes as we knew how to use it before hand, which meant that didn’t need to learn how to use it.
BUBBL.US Bubbl.us is a website that allows you to
create colourful brainstorms. This website was useful in the pre production planning of our opening sequence as it allowed us to colour code certain segments of the brainstorm. It was also helpful in connecting our ideas together in the beginning stages of the project.
POWERPOINT Even though we didn’t use
PowerPoint very often during the production, it was still a helpful piece of software. We used PowerPoint to create presentations that could then be uploaded onto SlideShare. PowerPoint was useful as we already knew how to use it so we didn’t need to take up any time exploring its features. PowerPoint was extremely useful if we did not have access to wifi so couldn’t use Prezi.
SCRIBD Scribd is a website that allows you to
upload documents so that they can easily be uploaded to other sites (Such as Blogger) via an embedded code. This made it easier for us to upload the documents we had completed in Microsoft Word to our blog, much like Slideshare allowed us to upload PowerPoints.
POWTOON Even though we didn’t use PowToon
very often during our project, it still provided a unique platform on which to present certain ideas we had. PowToon was used as an alternative to Prezi, as on PowToon you don’t have to click the screen every time the slide needs changing, it plays in the style of a video.
SURVEY MONKEY
Survey Monkey was used to send out our Pre Production and Post Production Questionnaires. This provided a much cheaper and efficient way of distributing our surveys.
EASEL.LY This software was used to present our
work in a more visual way. I created the research into the 180 degree rule, depth of field and match on action on easel.ly. It was simple to create a flow of information that could be followed easily. In our group, we didn’t have very much past experience with this platform, therefore it took a little more time to navigate all of the features.
FINAL CUT PRO Final Cut Pro was our chosen editing
software as our group had a lot of previous experience with it in our GCSE and AS Level projects. This allowed us to edit our footage straight away, without having to learn and explore the features of an unknown editing software. Additionally, Final Cut Pro was available to us on the Macbook Pro laptops, therefore if needed we could move locations whilst editing.
PHOTOSHOP
Photoshop was a programme that all members of my group were familiar with as we had used it in our AS project. Photoshop was used when creating a company logo and making a film review and poster for our ancillary task.
IMESSAGE
As all members of our group had Apple phones or iPods, we primarily used iMessage to communicate. This allowed us to ask each other questions about filming or paperwork when we weren’t at school.
FACEBOOK / TWITTER We used Twitter to promote our production as we
knew that the majority of our target audience used the site. We also thought that it may attract a wider range of people from outside our planned target audience.
We used Facebook to communicate and send each other pictures and queries about tasks that needed completing. We also used Facebook as a form of advertising for our Production and Production Company.
