Camera: Nikon D3200

Films footage. Used on a tripod handheld to capture footage.

Battery started to run out through filming.

Extra battery was charged up and used instead.

Make sure both batteries are charged on the camera before filming begins.

YouTube Shares videos online for the general public to see.

It was used to upload the thriller opening for viewing.

Uploading of the video was difficult to put onto YouTube and an account had to be made for us to be able to upload it.

An account was made to upload the video onto YouTube and after consulting the technicians the difficulty with uploading the video was sorted.

Make sure that an account is created prior to uploading the video to YouTube.

SD Card Stores footage from the camera and transfers videos between computers.

It was inserted into the camera and used to record the footage and store it.

The SD card began to run out of space and old footage was on there making it difficult to find our own footage.

We deleted unneeded footage and found the date we filmed on making it easier to locate our clips.

Make sure the SD card has enough space to store all of the clips necessary and clear older footage to make it easier to locate our own.

Tripod Holds a camera and makes sure the camera was steady and smooth moving.

It was used to provide angles and clear smooth shot in our film clips.

There was no clip to attach the camera onto the first tripod we used making it difficult to use with the camera and making some of the clips unsteady.

The height of the tripod was too small for some of the clips we wanted to film.

We got a new tripod with a functioning clip on top.

We placed the tripod on a stable surface making the height of the tripod taller.

Make sure we have a fully functioning tripod that has all the working components as well as one that reaches taller heights.

Mac Acts as hardware for the final cut pro software.

It was used for the computer software, final cut pro.

As I have no experience with Macs I didn’t understand how it worked so it took longer to use than it might’ve with other people as I had to understand how

After watching a few tutorials on how to use macs and using them a few times I began to understand what to do.

We asked a technician to

Make sure that I understand how to use a mac and its software before using one and ensuring that the internet is connected.

Page 2: Evaluation 6

to use them.

The internet on the Mac wasn’t connected to the internet to begin with meaning we couldn’t use emails or google to find things that we needed.

come in figure out what was wrong with the connection to the internet.

PC Is a computer that can access the internet and stores software such as Microsoft word and excel.

Used to create word and excel documents as well as Prezi, emaze, PowToon and blogger.

The computers would sometimes be slow and not load work as quickly.

There was nothing we could do about the speed of the computers and the internet connection.

Use a computer that is more up to date and try and use a computer with better internet connection.

Final Cut Pro Stores footage and allows editing to be done easily and with a professional finish to it.

Used to edit the footage and make the thriller opening.

The transitions weren’t what we wanted for the film and looked unprofessional, it was extremely slow and crashed often. When we came to upload the final product to YouTube we weren’t able to because the software was outdated.

We managed to find a tutorial on transitions to see if we could make them longer and look more professional in the film. There was nothing we could do about final cut pro being slow and crashing, however, we did manage to transfer the thriller over to another computer so we could upload it to YouTube

Make sure that Final Cut Pro is fully up to date so that moving the thriller to YouTube would be easier. Also make sure that we know how to edit transitions properly and make them look natural in the product.

Word Creates word documents on the computer

Used to write the screenplay, costume list, permission slip, character development, film outline, risk assessment, prop list, shot list and storyboard.

Moving the documents from word to our blog was difficult and was sometimes displayed differently.

We screen-shot the documents and uploaded them to the blog that way instead.

We now know that this would be a problem so maybe make documents on a different software that co-operates with blogger better.

Blogger An online website which

We displayed all of our work on

Blogger didn’t allow you to

To upload picture and

Watch tutorials on how to use

can be used to create blogs for anyone to see.

blogger in the form of a blog including our: Preliminary, Research, Planning and Main Task.

copy and paste picture directly into it meaning as well as some documents. Sometimes when you save a change on Blogger it didn’t actually save so font and picture size would vary throughout the blog.

documents we instead had to save images and documents differently so that blogger could display them better.

blogger and understand how to import files and pictures into it.

Emaze An online website used to create presentations more professionally.

Used to write essays and film analysis on to vary the content we had on our blogs.

It was difficult to fit what you wanted onto one slide meaning essays were spread out across different slides making it difficult to read.

Making the font size smaller and separating the essay into a paragraph a slide made it easier to read when viewed.

Make sure that my essay is spread out more evenly across the slides whilst writing the essay so that I don’t have to come back and alter it all once finished

Prezi An online website used to create presentations in a different format to what is already on our blogs.

We used this to present our film pitch through as well as research before creating the final product.

The transitions between the different sections of Prezi were difficult to understand and were confusing at times.

Embedding Prezi into our was also difficult as sometimes the embedding code given wouldn’t load onto the blog.

I researched how to use Prezi and watched a tutorial on its different features meaning I understood it more.

After a few tries at embedding the code it eventually worked.

Research how to use Prezi and watch the tutorial provided before beginning a presentation.

PowToon An online website used to create presentations in a more fun way providing a different format to view essays on that varies from what is already on our blog

We used this to write essays for our research.

PowToon seemed quite childish in the way it presented our essay. The readymade templates were difficult to use when trying to delete unnecessary things from the template.

After reading the tutorial provided on the PowToon website I understood how to use the transitions and template more.

Read the tutorial provided before beginning the presentation.

IPhone- Camera Films footage and stores it on the memory of the iPhone.

We used this to record our film pitch and take photos for the story board.

The storage on the iPhone ran out whilst we were taking photos.

We transferred the photos and videos we had already got onto the computer so that we cleared up space on the phone.

Make sure there is enough storage on the phone before takin photos.

USB Stick Stores sound files and documents on a stick that can be transferred between computers.

We used this to transfer sound files onto the Mac when the internet wasn’t working

We didn’t encounter any problems with the USB stick.

As we didn’t encounter any problems with the USB stick we didn’t have to find any solutions

USB sticks are reliable and easy to use when we need to import files onto the mac.

Timeline Maker An online software that is used to create timelines

We used this to plan out the timings of our film and to present the timing of opening credits.

It was difficult to space out the boxes you had written in to make it easier to read.

By making the font smaller the boxes became smaller so it was easier to display them.

Make sure I plan out my presentation more evenly.

Excel A software that enables you to enter data and turn it into a spreadsheet/pie chart.

We used excel to turn our data research into pie charts and graphs.

We weren’t sure how to change the data into a pie chart or a graph

After researching how to do it I was then able to input our data and turn them into pie charts to put on our blogs.

Ask somebody who is more experienced with excel to help me if I’m unsure.

Yahoo Email software on the internet

We used Yahoo to email each other work and pictures as well as sound files and video footage.

We didn’t encounter any problems with Yahoo

As we didn’t have any problems with Yahoo we didn’t have to find a solution.

Yahoo is a reliable way of transferring data and work across to each other.

Google Search engine We used Google to access YouTube for things like tutorials and clips we needed to analyse, as well as for research and finding out how to do things we were unsure of. We also used Google to access websites such as Prezi, emaze, PowToon and

We sometimes couldn’t find what we wanted through google and we had to take time to carefully find what we needed.

By entering more specific key words we could find things we needed quicker.

Be more specific when searching for things on Google.

Yahoo. Lighting Lamp A natural light. We used this to

light the room we were in to give it an eerier atmosphere.

The lamp was sometimes in the way of the shot and created shadows that we didn’t want in the film.

We moved the lamp around to get it out of shot and create less shadows.

To make sure that the light is out of shot before filming and make sure the lighting is similar/same in every shot if possible.

Voice Memos- IPhone

Stores voice recording without a video

We used this to record the voice over for the radio and some scenes where the speaking wasn’t loud enough.

It was difficult to move the voice recordings over to the computer through emails.

By putting the voice memos on the USB stick it was easy to move the voice recording over.

Make sure that the Mac is connected to the internet before trying to move recording over through email.
