2. How effective is the combination of your main

product and ancillary texts?

We used a combination of related media to create a combined media product of a documentary, a radio trailer and a newspaper advertisements.

These all share media and are easily relatable to one another creating a cohesive and professional form of media and advertising.

The music we used was of a music box, that we recorded ourselves, as we felt that it created a creepy ambience which fit the topic of our documentary which is phobias.

Music is combined across both the radio trailer, in the background, and in our documentary where it is played alongside our opening title and in the background of short clips towards the end.

Music

The same person was used for the voice over in both the radio trailer and in the documentary.

This would remind people that this is our piece of media and that the two are related

Voiceover

The radio trailer and the newspaper advertisement both use the same tagline ‘what are you afraid of’ by using the same tagline this shows people that the products are both relating to the same thing.

In our documentary we also included ‘what are you afraid of in a way by putting up text telling the audience what the interviewee was afraid of

Text and scripting

Clips from the documentary were also used in the radio trailer. These were of people telling us what their fears are and we incorporated that into the trailer.

This gives the listener a sample of what will be in the documentary letting them know what phobias get talked about.
