+Bauer Media Group

I have chosen Bauer Media Group as they have a strong background in publishing music magazines.

Bauer media is part of the Bauer Media Group and is Europe's largest privately owned publishing group.

They publish over 300 magazines worldwide and also publish online and on TV making them a large part of the publishing industry.

Their strong background in music magazine publishing makes them an attractive opportunity for anybody trying to publish and distribute a new magazine into the market.

+Kerrang Magazine

One of Bauer’s many brands they publish Kerrang a magazine which has a very similar target audience to NAM magazine. This makes it an even more or an ideal choice for publishing the magazine with them. They will also have a good idea of the sorts of advertising that will be effective within the magazine and what other sorts of media will make NAM more widely viewed and accessible. Such as online publishing, since NAM is aimed at a younger audience a website will be a must have and since Bauer has experience working with online publishing it seems like a good idea to use their experience to an advantage.

+Online Publishing

As NAM is aimed at younger people then it will be necessary to have a website.

Bauer Media have developed websites for many of the leading music magazine brands such as Kerrang and Q meaning that they have plenty of experience working on websites for similar brands and will be able to get the website noticed by the right people as well as putting the right content in the right place. A website is also the best way to advertise a subscription to the magazine as people will probably look at the website before buying the magazine.

+Advertising

The kind of advertising that should be in NAM is mostly going to be music based advertising. Such as advertisements for music shops such as HMV and iTunes as well as adverts for concerts and festivals.

I think this type of advertising would be better than product adverts such as technology because the target audience is people who enjoy going to concerts and people who’s primary interest and hobby is music rather than enjoying music as a side activity. This makes direct music adverts the best way to take up the advertising space in the magazine.

+Apps

Along with websites the latest way of reaching out to a younger audience is through Mobile applications. Devices such as the iPad, Android Tablets and the Amazon Kindle are a good form of media to distribute the magazine on. Whether you produce an app for download in the market or if you make your magazine available as a download on the kindle store or the iBook store or even on the latest addition of Google books.

NAM magazine is primarily aimed at a younger audience, meaning that this form of distribution is possibly the most important method of selling the brand.

+iPad

iPad has become one of the most popular pieces of technology available today and at the center or its popularity is the App store which offers a huge range of apps from games, office suites and now even magazine apps.

With a younger target audience NAM magazine would greatly benefit from an app to boost its audience to people who don’t like buying magazines and it doesent have to be an app. In newer versions of the iPad there is an iBook store which provedes access to books, newspapers and magazines, by releasing a copy of the magazine through the iBook store the audience will again be further increased due to the advanced availability of the magazine.

Much like the iPad android tablets have become a very popular way to access media in many forms and with the addition of the google books store the audience has become much bigger. But the bok store is not the only way of producing a magazine on these devices. Since Android tablets are flash compatible they provide access to a wide range of online media such as a flash version of the magazine either launched as a book, app or even just through the web browser
