  1. 1. Evaluation: Question 6 What haveyou learnt about technologiesfrom the processof constructing thisproduct?
  2. 2. How did you record theprocessof your coursework electronically on your blog?
  3. 3. I used many different forms and softwares to record my coursework: Google Slides is the newest format I have tried and probably my favourite. It has a lovey way of laying things out, while offering many different ways of presenting your work. Slide Share I had never used before and really liked how easy it was to connect with power point to create interesting and informal slides. I mainly used this to present my case studies because they enable me to insert pictures and any screen shots from the films Im using etc.
  4. 4. Prezi was also another software I hadnt used before but really liked the easy and creative way it presented your work. By having automatic transitions it made the presentation more fun and engaging. Firstly for my preliminary task my group and I researched and experimented with various forms of camera angles. We tried to take at least two of each kind of angle and see which looked effective and identify the effect they created. v By using and trying all of these I could identify which programs were most enjoyable and easy to use. In the end I decided I would use Prezi, slide share and google slides, this is because they were the easiest to use and also looked the most presentable and professional.
  5. 5. How did you use technology to research your thriller production?
  6. 6. The internet was used especially when researching thrillers for case studies, by the use of YouTube I was able to watch and have access to clips from the films. This meant that any analysis of the films were easy to do because I could always look back, freeze and screen shot important moments. The internet was used very frequently before, after and during the creation of my production, this was because it gave me the freedom to access any information required about past thriller films that I could reference or get inspiration from. I also used YouTube to watch and find scenes to either gain knowledge from or to reference. This was also used to help make gifs to make my work easier to read and more presentable.
  7. 7. How did you use technology when planning your thriller production?
  8. 8. The internet also played a big part in finding our desired music we wanted to use for the film, many different search engines and websites were of big help in this task. Technology was very important for aiding the planning of my thriller production. Cameras were needed to help photograph possible angles that could be used, scanners allowed for an efficient way to load hand drawn storyboards onto my blog. I also used PowerPoint and the computer to layout and present the shot lists, storyboards, and shot/angle ideas; which were taken on a camera, and for analysis/evaluations .
  9. 9. How did you use technology to collaborate with other members of your group during production?
  10. 10. My group and I had a Facebook chat which we spoke to each other regularly on; constantly putting forward and contributing ideas regularly, also on this chat we discussed many things such as location, shot list, story board and when to meet for shooting. Text messaging each other on our mobile phones to arrange meetings and emailed each other photos of the shoot. By staying in contact all the time we were very efficient in our filming which overall really helped to make the production run and in the end look smooth and professional. The program Celtx was also used in our group. This website allows you to store your scripts, and lets the rest of your group view and edit them.
  11. 11. How did you use technology during the shoot of your production? We were able to review footage by using a digital camera, this was important as we knew if things needed to be reshot. Sometimes shots would be out of focus or slightly at the wrong angle, due to this feature we were easily able to correct any mistakes. An IPad was also used on set containing our shot list and storyboards. This was extremely useful as it was a portable and quick way of having those required resources with us when we needed them. IPads have a great function; like a phone, you just click a button and it turns instantly on, no time is wasted like it would be if a laptop was used.
  12. 12. How did you use specific editing effects to enhance the quality and creativity of your film?
  13. 13. This was to help present the reference of the hand down the wall from Psycho. I used many different techniques to increase the quality of my production. My software; Adobe Premier Pro allowed me to trim my clips creating the suitable pace for each moment. I altered the colour of my film to be in black and white to help contribute to the connotations of a noir 1950s thriller. A slow motion shot was used as Eve grabbed the gun; this helped to emphasize this important plot point in the scene, this was also used again at the end when the strangers hands falls down the door.
  14. 14. A lot of dip to black was used throughout my production in the editing stages; most of them only lasting a couple of seconds, this was effective as it helped create a quick pace and almost represented the darkness that is the unknown; blind to what may happen. The use of fading to black also helped to portray some features of a noir thriller genre. Using the text toolbox I edited my titles and their fonts to make them appear to fit the genre and age style (1950s) of the production. This made my title look much more authentic and true to the year of which we based it on. Comparison of similar styled titles; one from Mildred Pierce and the other my own production Eve Crawford
