The Faculty of Business and Law holds its own course induction for all new undergraduate students enrolled in the Faculty. The course induction is an important part of your orientation. At the induction you learn more about the faculty and your course and get to meet your lecturers, students studying in the course as well as new students like you. If you were unable to attend the course induction we recommend you read through the presentation slides as they contain very useful information about the faculty, what you can expect at university and the services and facilities available.

Your ECU student email account is the preferred

means of communication.

Important information such as admin related issues, fees invoice

Blackboard

Blackboard is an important tool that will allow you to access lecture notes, handouts from tutorials, and other important information.

You can also access the Academic Skills Centre timetable from Blackboard.

Parking permits are available from Student Central or Online.

As students, you are required to

park in the RED ZONE only.Daily and weekly parking scratchies are available from the ECU Shop and Food Outlets at $3.00/day or $6.00/week

Lecturers & tutors

• A lecturer is someone who presents material in a lecture format, usually to a large class

• A tutor facilitates learning and discussion in a tutorial session, usually with a smaller group of students

• Your lecturer or tutor’s contact details can be found on Blackboard

• If you need to contact them, plan ahead. They are often teaching, and therefore not in the office

OS&H and Risk Management

Occupational Safety and Health (OS&H) and Risk Management

The University places the highest priority on creating and providing a safe and healthy working environment for all students.

A dedicated Occupational Safety and Health (OS&H)Office has responsibility for the University’s health and safety policies. It also provides guidance on hazardidentification, ergonomics and other risk-related issues.

OS&H and Risk Management

You must take reasonable care for your own safety and health on campus and avoid harming the safety and health of others. This includes: 

  Following safety and health instructions;

  Using personal protective clothing and equipment when required;  Taking good care of equipment;

  Reporting hazards as soon as possible;

  Reporting work related accidents, injuries or harm to health; and being familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures and complying with the instructions given by emergency response personnel such as emergency wardens and first aiders.

Accidents and injuries need to be reported to a university staff member or contact Campus Security on 6304 3333 (3333 from internal phones) as soon as possible.

ECU is a SMOKE FREE campus.

In order to facilitate works for the Perth City Link Project, Transperth has another planned train shutdown which will impact all train lines.
