Introduction

URGENT!! Attention Crest Field Middle School. It has just been announced that two teachers here have had charges brought against them for copyright infringements. Ms. Joe made 30 copies of a new movie for each of her students and Mr. Togglemire used a clip from Pearl Harbor in his history class. Please come up with a multimedia presentation to defend or denounce the teachers for these alligations.

Task• First, in your groups, you will examine the resources provided on fair use, creative commons, and copyright laws. While reviewing the resources don’t forget to record the information you feel is important.

• Next, after reviewing the information decide as a group if your group agrees or disagrees with the alligations brought against the school’s teachers.

Task

• Your group will unite and produce a multimedia presentation to persuade attorneys and the public toward your stance on the issue.

• Possible multimedia presentations include: o iMovie, powerpoint, a blog, a wiki, and a news report video

Process• Get into your assigned groups of four. Divide the following jobs amongst the four members (Jobs listed on the following slide)

• As a group review the websites provided to you.

• Review the information and choose the information that as a group you believe is the most important and supports your stance. There should be at least four points to your argument.

• Decide what your group will use to present the your argument to the attorneys and the public.

• Create your learning artifact.

Process

Ensures that other groups are not disturbed by your groups noise.

Noise Monitor

Responsible for controlling all computer equipment. This person handles mouse, uses the keyboard, logs on/off the computer etc., to ensure no damage is done.

Technician

Pays particular attention to the minor details that sometimes go unnoticed. For example, all names properly recorded, all pages numbered, all necessary information gathered.

The Detailer

Records information gathered from the resources. Ensures all information is kept together.
