FINAL CUT PRO TOOLS USED

One of the tools we used to cut videos was the blade tool. This was a useful tool because it allowed us to slit clips into however many sections we wanted. Most of our clips were very long and had unnecessary sections so the blade tool enabled us to select and cut the sections of the clip we wanted, and delete the other parts.

Another tool that we used to make our videos shorter was the trim tool. This was also a very useful tool because it enabled us to cut either the beginnings or the ends of the clips. This tool came in handy when we had clips that were simply too long but there was no need to blade sections, so we just trimmed them.

A tool that we didn’t use as often was the rage selection tool. This tool allowed us to select ranges within clips. For example, if we only liked the middle section of a clip, we would use the range tool to select it. This tool performed a similar function to the blade tool, thus we didn’t use it as much because the blade tool was much faster to use.

In our trailer we only used one type of transition which was the cross dissolve. The software did not have a fade to black transition and so we inserted a cross dissolve before a black screen so that it gave the effect of a clip fading into darkness. We didn’t use this transition as much as we would have liked because it faded too much from the ends of the clips and as a result shortened the length of the clip.
