across the state and offers more than 600 certificates, diploma, and associate degree

Background• 1997 Kentucky Legislature passes House Bill 1

(HB1) and completely revamps higher education system

• 2011 Kentucky recognized by National Center for Higher Education Management for improvement in educational access for Kentucky residents

Community Education

Kentucky Community Colleges offer many different community education courses to help improve the lives of Kentucky’s citizens.

The format of community education could range from a 1-hour class each week, to a one week intensive in the summer, to a one day seminar.

Collegiate Education

“Since 2000, Kentucky’s college attainment rate for associate degrees and higher among adults 25- 64 has improved by six percentage points

(30.5%) This was the largest percentage change of any state in the nation.”

Kentucky Higher Education System Growing Strong!

• According to a report released by the National Center for Higher Education Management, Kentucky ranked higher than any other state on the following metrics:• Rate of improvement in the percent of working

adults with college degrees• 6 year graduation rates at 4 year institutions• Number of undergraduate credentials awarded to

the population with no college degree
