FINDING FULFILLMENT IN

MARRIAGE.

Why are many of us not finding fulfillment in our marriages? Is it that we don’t know the basics of marriage or most of us enter into marriages unprepared? If you are drawn by lust and the desire for sex, I can assure you that marriage will not last long.

How have our parents stayed together in marriage for many years? My own father-in-law stayed with my mother-in-law for 69 years in their marriage and it is only death that separated them. I have been married now for 36 years and I believe and persuaded that only death would separate me from my wife.Tuesday, April 11, 2023

I believe that we can find fulfillment in our marriages, when we understand why we are married in the first place and what God’s purpose in our marriages is.

Genesis 2:18-25 GOD said, "It's not good for the

Man to be alone; I'll make him a helper, a companion." So GOD formed from the dirt of the ground all the animals of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the Man to see what he would name them.

Whatever the Man called each living creature, that was its name. The Man named the cattle, named the birds of the air, named the wild animals; but he didn't find a suitable companion. GOD put the Man into a deep sleep. As he slept he removed one of his ribs and replaced it with flesh.

GOD then used the rib that he had taken from the Man to make Woman and presented her to the Man. The Man said, "Finally! Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh! Name her Woman for she was made from Man." Therefore a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh. The two of them, the Man and his Wife, were naked, but they felt no shame.(MSG)Tuesday, April 11, 2023

Marriage and the troubles that are plaguing so many marriages these days needs an answer . I am compelled to reassure you that you can experience fulfillment in marriage.

I am convinced that God has fully intended for us to experience fulfillment, even awe, in our marriages. It seems that every indicator is pointing in the opposite direction but do you know that God is in control of our marriage destiny if we allowed Him to do so?

The effects of failing marriages on children, family, and friends are not the real problem, they are mere symptoms of the true problem. The real problem is that couples who love each other early on, do not understand the purpose of marriage and are therefore unable to experience the fulfillment that God has purposed for that holy union.

For you and me to experience something more in our marriages we must understand God's purpose for marriage.

Gen 2:18-25 The LORD God said, "It is not good

for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." {19} Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. {20} So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. {21} So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh.

{22} Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. {23} The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, ' for she was taken out of man."

{24} For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. {25} The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. (NIV)

This is such a rich portion of God's Word. I love the word, "helper" that is used in verse 18. I think it is significant that out of all of the words God could have used to describe the relationship of the man and woman, He used "helper."

Words that reflect the deep meaning of "helper" are:

a. aide b. assistant c. colleague d. partner e. supporter f. ally." These are the words which best

We are to be our mate's helper. Our actions are to be helpful. Our words are to be helpful. Our presence should bring

comfort and security rather than anxiety and bitterness.

Our lives should be a fragrant offering of support to our mate because we have been called by God to be his or her helper. Tuesday, April 11, 2023

Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has given me a helper to help me seek to bring glory to His name. Isn't that amazing! Isn't God good. He knew that I could never do what I needed to do on my own so He gave me a woman after His own heart.

God has given us responsibilities to carry out as men and women, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, and it is a blessing to have someone close to work alongside of us.

But "Two are better than one," says Ecclesiastes, "Because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift the other." Marriage makes the job of survival possible. And the fact that a spouse is termed a "helper" declares marriage was never an end in itself, but a preparation.

God, in His infinite wisdom knew that we needed help and He has provided that help for us in our mate if we will only work together according to the Almighty God's plan.

There is desperate need of men and women of God who will choose to seek to integrate into their marriages God's plan for marriage.

There is need to become a better helper to your mate and need to work together to bring glory to God’s name.

Our marriages need prayer today like they have never needed prayer before.

Allow God to take His rightful place in your marriage.

“Think as a man and woman but seek the wisdom of God in all matters particularly as pertains to marriage”.

Do an evaluation of your marriage, identifying strengths and weaknesses in your marriage.

After doing the above exercise, capitalize on your strengths and make corrections on your weaknesses.

If both of you can sit down to analyze the results and do the necessary amendments , and looking at Gen 2;18-25, I am convinced that your value systems in your marriage can greatly improve and that you can start having fulfillment in your marriage. Tuesday, April 11, 2023

There is a future in marriage and I am confident that our marriages will work.

Don’t give up. You can do nothing about the

past failures in your marriage but you can do something today to have a fulfilling marriage.

The onus is on you.
