What is
Florida
Virtual
School?
It is possible to make a difference online – but it’s not always
pretty. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes
you must learn from your mistakes. After all, this is Social
Media: The good, the bad, and the ugly.
How to you get students to care? Visual delivery
An informal, personal tone
A sense of humor
Your enrollment in this Social Media course will be subject to review at any time if:
• Four of your five last social media posts contain misspellings
• Nine of your last 20 social media posts contain an unnecessary amount of tags
• If any of your updates in the last month uses an annoying capitalization structure (eXaMpLe)
• If you post more than seventeen (17) times per day about activities including but not limited to
bathing, eating, sleeping, napping, snoozing, lounging, and/or sneezing
• You are a business or organization selling whatcha-ma-call-its

This page was actually really fun to read!! I could relate to it, I've also
received those fake emails of some Prince or Princess or royalty from
India asking for a money transfer! That was a good laugh!! Thank you. I
like how it reaches out to all the different forms and ways where fraud
could happen, it's up-to-date.”

YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILE

HERE’S WHAT
I LIKE
My Social Media Life, According to
Others:ARE OTHERS RIGHT?
(02.04) Helping to rescue and rehabilitate neglected and
abused horses.
I volunteer at the Bit of Hope ranch. They rescue abused and neglected horses. By volunteering, I can help socialize and rehabilitate these horses, participate in fund-raising activities sponsored by the ranch, and get my friends on Facebook involved. We can spread the word.
The change I would make would be to heighten public awareness and
lobby lawmakers to increase the legal ramifications of abusing and
neglecting animals.
Which change
will you make?

I’m not really a loner, but I can see why people might think that because I do virtual school. I am definitely dedicated to volunteering at Bit of Hope ranch. I’m not sure that I’m intense, but I like to post quotes that make people stop and think.

WOW! Literally…
Dear Social Media Student,
Before I took this course I had no idea what I was getting into. I had no idea that my daily Instagram posts
have such a huge effect on so many things like my future or someone else’s opinion. I was shocked to learn
just how much it did. By taking this class I have really started thinking twice about what I post and when I
post it. You never know who could see a picture of you, that you may not think to be inappropriate but to
someone else it is. Now instead of posting a daily selfie I try to post more thought provoking or
interesting statues twice a week.
During the course you have to do a project on something you care about. I chose Human Rights because I
felt that it was an issue a lot of my friends overlooked. When choosing a topic for your project I suggest
doing it on something uncommon and really important to you. Whether that’d be three legged animals or
how gross sugar free gum is, make sure it’s 100% you! I wanted to change someone’s view point with my
project. I wanted someone who thought nothing of unequal pay or sweatshop products to think twice
about where the products they buy come from and who made them. That was important to me.
The people who I wanted to show my project to was pretty much anyone and everyone. If it was my third
period teacher or my best friend from sixth grade. Just by changing someone’s view point was important. It
was interesting to find out that some of my friends were interested in my project. I thought a lot of them
wouldn’t be but it turned out that I was wrong.
This is absolutely not the end of my project. I plan on continuing it for as long as I want to. I really want to
learn more about the subject and I feel like it will help me become more grateful in the long run. I had so
much fun during this semester of Virtual School, and I wish I could have continued this course for another
semester. I really think you will enjoy what this course brings as well!
“I am absolutely loving this course! It's my favorite that I am taking this school year. I wish it was longer, so that I could continue taking it.”
"From pomposity to fanaticism to superstition and inanity, in the past, I read them all. Never again, I tell you, will I have to do that, and neither will you if you pay attention to the valuable material contained in this goldmine of a course. Don’t just read the information. Take the time to truly think about what is staring you in the face on your computer screen."
"My topic is marketing my music, which I am very excited about! I'm learning ways to effectively market my self and I'm actually having to explain it. It helps my dream become more realistic than just a dream. Gosh I love this course!!!"
