Colonial Expansion
France expanded their colonies to Louisiana and the lower Mississippi valley at the end of the seventeenth century.
Fort in Quebec
At the French fort in Quebec the French needed more support in defending the compound, so they turned to recruiting inhabitants.The French created a new title of “Signeurs” for the men who could organize and finance shipments of new colonists.By 1675 seventy seigneuries divided the land from Quebec and Montreal in the St. Lawrence valley.
