DESCRIPTION
New and emerging technologies, trends, and services should and can encompass several areas in your library. Hill transformed a 4th floor storage area into a vibrant beta space, while Hoenke transformed the youth services floor. This tag-team webinar will talk about the informal and formal processes and synergies between the two floors. They'll discuss high-tech: 3D printing and vinyl cutting as well as low tech: button makers, crafts, and the Awesome Bear. Hill is an Assistant Director at the Chattanooga Public Library and Co-Chair of the Digital Public Library of America’s Audience & Participation workstream. He was named one of Library Journal ‘s 2012 “Movers and Shakers.” Most recently, he’s been coordinating a redesign of the 4th floor of Chattanooga’s downtown library as a community space for knowledge sharing and media production. Hoenke is the Head of Teen Services at the Chattanooga Public Library. As a video gaming enthusiast, he has written for publications such as Library Journal, Voices of Youth Advocates and is a regular contributor for the blog, Tame the Web. He is a member of the 2010 ALA Emerging Leaders class and was named a Library Journal Mover and Shaker in 2013. He shares tips and expertise on his blog, Justin the Librarian.
