2. Speeches are another way ofsharinginformation.Just as there arerules for writinga great paper, there are rulesfor a great speech. 3. 1. Rememberthat speechesare shorter than papers. Include only the mostimportant information. 4. 2. Your posture isimportant.Slouching or leaningagainst the wall tells your listeners thatyou dont care aboutyour subject and they will be lesslikely to give you their attention. (It could also hurt your grade.) 5. 3. Eye contact isimportant. It might be uncomfortablespeaking directly to your audience, but it makes you look more confident and keeps your listeners attention. 6. 4. Gestures give life to yourspeech.Just be careful notto get carried away. You wantpeople to care more about whatyou say than whatyour arms are doing. 7. 5. Have charisma! If you are excitedabout your topic, everyoneelse will be more interested inwhat you have to say and you willlook moreconfident (even ifyou are nervous). 8. 6. Dont panic. Take a deep breath, and staycalm. Delivering a speech can be frightening, but you can do it.
