About your masterclass leaders:Mark Bell, General Manager, SGMF

Mark has a wealth of maritime experience from various maritime sectors including tankers, bulk, defence and regulation.He is a Chartered Marine and Mechanical Engineer and has spent a total of 16 years with two leading Class Societies, LRand DNV. He spent 3 years with the UK Ministry of Defence and also has experience working for commercial ship ownersand managers. Mark has spent a lot of his career outside of the UK having been based in Malaysia, Singapore and theMiddle East and prior to these appointments he gained seagoing experience on VLCC's and various tankers including

gas ships and both the steam and motor variants.

David Haynes, Technical Director, SGMFDavid has spent 28 years in the gas industry including 16 years working full time on all aspects of LNG including liquefactionplants, import terminals, small facilities and more latterly floating LNG. He is a chartered process engineer. Much of David’scareer has been spent with BG Group and more latterly with GL Noble Denton. His project portfolio has been fullyinternational ranging from China to USA and from Norway to Australia via the Middle East and North Africa. David is alsoacknowledged as a conference speaker and training course tutor.

Klas Ljungmark, Technical Director, SGMFKlas has spent the last 9 years in the Swedish Transport Agency working with regulatory questions in the field of air emissionsand alternative fuels including LNG and Methanol. He is a marine engineer and spent eighteen years at sea in differenttype of ships ranging from general cargo to bitumen tankers. During his time in STA he was responsible for among otherprojects the regulatory part in making the Viking Grace LNG bunkering possible and the Bit Viking conversion. In betweenhis merchant marine and regulatory career he spent 8 years as head of the mechanical maintenance department in

power stations with a total power output of 350 MW.

About SGMF:The Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) is a new non-governmental organisation (NGO)established to promote safety and industry best practice in the use of gas as a marine fuel. To coverthe emerging gas as a marine fuel sector, SGMF has been established as a framework organisationwithin which both best practice and creative solutions can be reviewed and developed. The Society’sultimate goal is to develop and produce definitive guidelines so that the process of using gas as a

marine fuel can be undertaken safely worldwide. In this way, all the players along the gas supply chain will be able to realise themultitude of benefits that stem from its use in a safe and sustainable manner.
