The University serves as the hub for PAU’s Life and Earth Sciences Institute (including Agriculture and Health). Four flagship programmes have been selected for take-off namely:

1. Centre for Sustainable Development (CESDEV) which has internationally funded programmes like the Masters in Development Practice (MDP), Indigenous knowledge and Development (IKAD).

2. The Center for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law (CPEEL).

3. The Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (C-CAMH) is another Centre funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. It is to support the “Building Up of Child and Adolescent Mental Health” capacity in the African region and beyond.
