Our village Lathen

In the North Western part of Lower Saxony you find a small village called Lathen, quietly

located in the beautiful Emsland countryside near the Ems, not far from the North Sea and

close to the Dutch border.

It's best known in Germany as the location of the transrapid train test track.

All around Lathen there is plenty of nature: green forests, moors, the idyllic Ems valley and lovely swimming lakes.

You can practice lots of hobbies there: camping, fishing, riding horses, cruising in leisure boats...

There is one big school called 'Grund- und Oberschule Lathen' which combines four different kinds of schools: Grundschule, Oberschule, Hauptschule and Realschule.

School starts at 8o'clock and finishes at 13.25.

There are free time activities in the afternoon, but they are not obligatory. You can go there if you like. Only the pupils of the German Oberschule must stay at school in the afternoon twice a week.

If you want to find out more about our school, just have a look at our homepage www.schulzentrum-lathen.de

There are not so many cool shops in Lathen, where you can buy fashionable clothes. But there are lots of discounters, where you can find everything you need for your daily life.

You can see lots of camping grounds, too and in summer you meet many tourists there.
