Who are we?

We are the GLOBAL Research Education and Training (GREAT)

Foundation,

– A Pune based, non-profit organization with a mission to impact the lives of less

privileged school children and to help them maximize their potential and prepare

them for a better life.

Registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act vide n. E/3501(Pune)

on 6 March, 2002 we offer:

– Financial and academic support to 2,000 students of six Cantonment Board

Schools in Pune.

– It offers school students voluntary teaching service.

– It also offers training programs to teachers - Effective Teaching Skills.


Pehel: ‘If you care enough about a less privileged child and want to change their situation, YOU CAN.’

Working professionals, house wives and student volunteers teach basic subjects (on a pre-set curriculum) such as English and Mathematics to students across 3 schools.

A few professionals impart additional skills such as computer usage and dance to the students.

At present we have more than 20 volunteers teaching across the 3 Cantonment Board schools – Mhadji Shinde, Dr.Ambedkar and Ghorpade Village High school in Pune.

• Stationery – Pens, pencils, notebooks, crayons, erasers, etc.

• Basic schooling necessities – school bags, uniforms, etc.


Sponsor a child:

Packages Cost (per child in an academic year)

One year Sponsorship Rs.1,200 per child

Stationery (Pens, pencil box, notebooks, crayons, etc)

Rs. 250/- per child

SSC exam Form Fee (Internal + External)

Rs. 500/- per child

Other requirements(School uniform, shoes, lunch box, etc)

Rs.450/- per child

Half year sponsorship Rs.600/-per child

Higher Education - > 10th grade Rs.5,000/- per child

Premium donations Rs.5,000 and above


How we achieve this?

Volunteer initiative – Volunteers contribute as less as two hours to conduct an interactive and

fun filled study session for these children at the schools.

Sponsorships– Help children with sponsorships covering the schools fees and

examination fees.

Provide basic necessities (via donations, etc.)– Provide uniforms, stationery, books, etc.

Other fun activities: - Drawing competition, Toy distribution, Meditation sessions, etc


Become a part of this movement?

Be a volunteer– We believe that you and I have had the privilege to have

been educated the right way and guided with the knowledge to make us who we are.

– By being a volunteer you help another person, a child, become a bright young mind of tomorrow

One can always question and debate on this fact that funds can be obtained from the govt. and other sources. Agreed, but can everyone afford education. Therefore

– Sponsor a child or contribute in kind

• Help aid a child’s education

• Donate in kind

– Sponsor a program – corporate initiative

Our achievements

GREAT Foundation effort in 2009-10:

– The 10th std school results recorded an increase (the number of students passed increased).

The effort of both School authorities and GREAT Foundation paid off with an improvement of

10-15% in school results (with a significant change in the English and Math pass

percentage). We hope to achieve the same level or higher results in 2011.

GREAT and Vedanta Foundation collaboration:

– Computer classes begun successfully for the Vth, VIth and VIIth grade across the 3 high schools.

We are going to extend the computer teaching coverage to VIIIth and IXth as well

Drawing competition 2009:

– More than 300 students participated in a GREAT Foundation organized event

Donations:

– Distributed 4,800 Long scape notebooks and 1,050 compass sets to students studying at

Mahadji Shinde High School, Ghorpade High school and Dr. Ambedkar High School

– Sponsored 30+ students for higher education

We are not making them adopt the rote method but are igniting their minds to “THINK” and “QUESTION”
