Background • Project created and held by Bayer with another partnership;

"The Green School Project, carried out in the years 2011-2012, is an initiative agreed with the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro State, by its first Prosecution of Justice Collective Trusteeship of Duque de Caxias"

• Focused on the students of the public school;

• New partnership with Unigranrio since February 2011;

• New project focus at students and teachers from the public school;

• Involvement of professors, biologists and student teachers;

• New assumptions and goals for 2012.

Project Assumptions

Develop as an expression of Bayer and Unigranrio social responsibility a

set of actions aimed at education, health and social and environmental

responsibility. Focusing on students and teachers of the public school at

Baixada Fluminense, RJ.

Project Goals 1. Touch 150 education professionals and 1600 students of public school at Baixada Fluminense, as executors and co-

participants of this new project in 01 year;

2. Perform weekly workshops (theoretical-practical) focus on public elementary school students at Bayer's dependences;

3. Develop didactic material in support of meetings and workshops for the Green School Project;

4. Create an environment of stimulation and raising value of students and teachers iniciatives and products undertaken

in the context and theme of the Green School Project;

5. Offer partnership to public schools in preparation of work projects within the theme of the Green School Project.

Assumptions of Meetings

Three meetings were structured for 25 teachers each and mediated by the Staff. The meetings

have predefined axes (described below), with a closure in each of the meetings. The

culmination were made with the total of teachers Group met, with the delivery of a product.

Maria Helena Jacinto, teacher at the municipal school of Duque de Caxias, approved training and work program.

In this project, the activities addressed to students has assumed active methodologies that use questioning

as learning strategy, with the objective to reach and motivate the students. Before the problem, he holds,

examines, reflects, relates his story and shall give their findings. The students will be encouraged to:

Participate in collective games with cognitive challenges;

Watch and discuss educational films in the search for collective solutions;

Experiencing situations of practical application of knowledge that articulate with the reality in

which they live;

Express knowledge and values through contact with alternative materials and collective challenges, generating possibilities for experimentation with new techniques and search for

solutions.

Axis 1 - Interdisciplinary

Based on LDB and PCN becomes fundamental social responsibility work aimed at understanding by

educating the issues that affect your life, the community you live in, your country and, above all, the planet

Earth. Thus, this axis will be critical to integrate the contents of other axes, throwing hand approaches

below:

• Problem-based learning as teaching tools;

• Concept map as a tool for teaching and learning.

Axis 2 – Sustainability and Biodiversity

The comparison of sustainable practices among the national and international reality shows that there is

an alignment with global initiatives, but with many challenges ahead (MMA, Res. CONAMA

01/86).

The Brazil has an odd role when subject is the biological diversity. He is the holder of the world's

greatest biodiversity.

The promotion of environmental education should be a goal. So we can ensure the preservation and

enhancement of biodiversity, which is a heritage for all mankind.

Approaches:

•Relationship with symbols (media → school →life);

•Environmental education: Experiences of everyday life for teaching;

•Raise awareness/Learning;

•Contribution and changes: group, individual, citizen.

Axis 3 - Health & Society

Taking the education as a dialogical process, which aims to construction of critical consciousness about

being and being in the world (AERTS, et al. 2004), makes necessary several attempts of pedagogical

alternatives aimed at improving integrative consciousness among the pillars of public health and

environment, with the aim of prioritizing and aggregating quality of life communities targets of these

strategies.

Approaches:

• Teaching in health;

• Diseases such as: Dengue fever, toxoplasmosis and Leptospirosis
