The purpose of this meeting is to provide you with knowledge about what the Texas Campus STaR Chart is, its purpose, and where our school stands in it.

The Texas STaR Chart is designed to help teachers, campuses, and districts determine their progress toward meeting the goals of theLong-Range Plan for Technology , as well as meeting the goals of their district.

The Long-Range Plan for Technology recognizes the vital importance of technology in our world and in education, and outlines the goals the Texas Board of Education would like to achieve in its public school pertaining to technology in all aspects of education.

Each year every Texas public school must publish a Texas Campus STaR Chart Summary to help them track their progress in achieving optimum success towards theLong-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020.

There are four components/ Key Areas in the Texas Campus StaR Chart:

I. Teaching and Learning

II. Educator Preparation and Development

III. Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support

IV. Infrastructure for Technology

Each component/ Key Area is placed into one of four classifications of level of progress, helping categorize where the school stands in achieving its technological goal.

Lowest level to highest achieving level:

Early Tech

Developing Tech

Advanced Tech

Target Tech

Key Area I:Teaching and Learning

Key Area II:Educator Preparation & Development

Key Area III:Leadership, Administration and Technical Support

Key Area IV:Infrastructure for Technology

Over the course of the past three years our campus has taken an up and down course, but ultimately we have shown growth and for the first time last year received Advanced Tech in all our Key Area STaR Classifications, which is wonderful.We are on the way to success!

There is still room for growth because we ultimately aspire to achieve Target Tech in all areas, and am sure that all of you cheer beside me attain that status.
