About Hew Len• When he entered the unit…(~1984):

– Spent 3 years as a psychologist in a high-security psychiatric unit, Hawaii State Hospital.– Patients are those who had committed criminal acts of murder, rape, drug use, and assaults and

battery against people and property.– All seclusion rooms were occupied with violent patients.– On any given day on the unit there were several patients in metal restraints around their ankles

and wrists to prevent violence against others.– Violent by patients against patients and patients against staff was a common occurrence.– Patients were not intimately involved in their care and rehabilitation.– There were no in-unit rehabilitative work activities.– Visits by families were extremely rare.– No patients were allowed off of high-security unit without written permission by the psychiatrist

and only with ankle and wrist restraints.– The stay in the unit by a typical patient ran into years, the cost being around USD$30,000 a year

then.– Staff sick leave ran extremely high on the ward.– The physical environment of the unit was drab and somewhat rundown.– The staff was composed of basically wonderful and caring people.

Page 5: Hooponopono (English)

About Hew Len• Left the unit (~1987) :

– Seclusion rooms were no longer in use.– Wrist and ankle restraints were no longer in use.– Violent acts were extremely rare, usually involving new patients.– Patients were responsible for their own care, including arranging residential,

work, etc.– Off-unit recreational activities such as sports were ongoing, not requiring

approval by a psychiatrist or the use of ankle and wrist restraints.– Off-unit work activities were begun, include baking cookies and polishing shoes.– Visits in the unit by family were taking place.– Staff sick leave was not a chronic problem.– The turnaround time for patients from admission to leaving the hospital was

greatly reduced to months instead of years.– The quality of life for both patients and staff shifted dramatically from being

custodial to one of family, people caring for one another.

You don’t say “Please forgive me” to the Divine because the divine needs to

hear it; you say it because you need to hear it.

*Can perform HA breathing before and after cleaning process

(HA breathing itself is a cleaning tool too)

The purpose of life is to be restored back to Love, moment to moment.

To fulfil this purpose, the individual must acknowledge that he is 100% responsible for creating his life the way it is. He must come to see that it is his thoughts that create his life the way it is moment

to moment.

The problems are not people, places, and situations but rather the thoughts of them.

He must come to appreciate that there is no such thing as “out there.“~Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len

Basic Principles

1. You don’t have a clue what is going on.2. You don’t have control over everything.3. You can heal whatever comes your way.4. You are 100% responsible for all your

experience.5. Your ticket to zero limits is saying the phrase

“I love you.”6. Inspiration is more important than intention.

Light in Within

• Light in Within– The analogy of a torchlight

Original StateWhen the intellectual

thinking, blaming, prediction, etc arise, they BLOCK the Light

Back to the Original State

Light in Within

• The Light in within– After cleaning, the Light become coherent and

powerful.

Cleaning Processes

• Void – the foundation of Self I-Dentity, of Mind, of the cosmos.

Void

VOID

Page 17: Hooponopono (English)

Cleaning Processes

• The four ‘components’ of Self I-Dentity (for easier explanation)

Devine Intelligence

Superconscious Mind (Aumakua)

Conscious Mind (Uhane)

Subconscious Mind (Unihipili)

Cleaning Processes• Void – It is the precursor state to the infusion of Inspirations

from Divine Intelligence into the Subconscious Mind.

Page 19: Hooponopono (English)

Cleaning Processes• Self I-Dentity operates by either ‘Inspiration’ or ‘Memory’. Usually,

we operate in the ‘memory state’ instead of the ‘inspiration state’.

memory

Page 20: Hooponopono (English)

Cleaning Processes• 2 functions of the Conscious Mind:

1. Keep replaying the memories, and continue the blaming and thinking processes2. Initiates the Ho’oponopono process (repentance and forgiveness) to neutralized the

designated memories. Eventually, the neutralized energies are then released into storage, leaving a Void. (Illustrated)

Ho’oponopono Process

① Conscious Mind initiates the Ho’oponopono problem solving process, a petition to Divine Intelligence to transmute memories to Void. The petition moves down from the Conscious Mind into the Subconscious Mind.

Cleaning Processes

②The down flow of the petition into the Subconscious Mind gently stirs memories for transmutation. The petition then moves up to the Superconscious Mind from the Subconscious Mind.③The Superconscious Mind reviews the petition, making changes as appropriate. Because it is always in tune with Divine Intelligence. The petition is then sent up to Divine Intelligence for final review and consideration.

Just Do It

• Let the Divine do their job.You just need to clean, erase and erase.Clean, and clean…

• Look inside, but not outside…Clean, and clean…

Page 26: Hooponopono (English)

Just Do It

• Problems cannot be solved through thinking! Contemplating, thinking, judging, analyzing, etc are intellectual processes, and it will not work!

We just need to clean, and clean…Erase, and keep purifying…

• If you are thinking right now, you are NOT cleaning…You just need to clean…

Just erase, and keep purifying…

Page 27: Hooponopono (English)

Practice Time

• Memories?1. Divine creator, father, mother, son as one… If I, my

family, relatives, and ancestors have offended you, your family, relatives, and ancestors in thoughts, words, deeds, and actions from the beginning of our creation to the present, we ask your forgiveness… Let this cleanse, purify, release, cut all the negative memories, blocks, energies, and vibrations, and transmute these unwanted energies to pure light… And it is done.

2. I LOVE you, I am SORRY, Please FORGIVE me, THANK you.

Q&A

• Is it true that you can feel the unipily?– I do not want to feel any other unipily, I want to

back to zero.• I don’t understand it either, but I just do it.
