As the target audience for my magazine was due to be students ranging from the age of 16-21 I decided to use Zoe Hedge as the main story due to her being the same age group as my audience therefore making her a point of common interest between readers. She is also an R&B musician which links in with the genre of my magazine, once again making her a common interest between each social group I am trying to represent.

However as this is a music magazine for students, I also tried to add a sense of glamour and individuality to the magazine, by challenging the stereotypical R&B female by dressing Zoe in outfits that would be more commonly linked with the fashion industry and their magazines. This creates a different approach from other R&B materials as women are usually seen as sex objects as seen on the photos presented on this slide, rather than as talented individuals, which in today’s society is an emergent ideology.

For my other stories Ihave used morestereotypical outfits andthemes that wouldappeal to the genre ofmy magazine, by basingthe other cover story onan R&B dance troop, thisis largely representedthrough the stereotypicalbaggy clothing.

I have tried to use fairly relaxed language totry and represent the readers as they are

stereotypically laid back, being students andinterested in R&B, with an equal range of text

image ratio which I also feel represents this idea

of a ‘laid back’ feel with an educational twist.
