The main aim of our poster was to obviously, drawn viewer's in. However we did also want to get across the themes, style, tone and even a hint at the plot in our films poster. Like many posters for crime films, it has a close up of the characters face on the poster. This was important, because, as mentioned earlier we wanted a very character driven story with relatable people in the film. This close up establishes Cyrus as the films lead.

However it also gives hints at the films plot as the films title is covered in drugs, or more specifically, cocaine. Viewers of the poster could see and interpret this to mean the film has a theme of drugs in it, simply from looking at the poster. Another plot point we hint at is Cyrus’ hidden agenda. This is shown through half of his face being obscured. This is also a style seen on many other crime thriller posters.

We have included all the things you would find on any other poster such as the writing at the bottom crediting people involved with the film, the films website, the BBFC rating the film has been given and the producer's and distributors logo’s. We also included critic reviews that you find on most films posters that have received good critical acclaim.

Our Radio Trailer’s objective, was just like our posters, to get people interested and drawn them in to watch our film . However we had more options with the radio trailer because even though there is no images, you can use audio alone to get the audience excited about your film. For example we tried to go for a more action orientated approach with this trailer.

For example we included explosion and banging noises in the trailer as well as clips from the film of the characters voices saying dramatic lines. Dan is providing the information on the trailer stating things such as the cast members, the critical responses the film received and the release date. He is speaking not in his normal voice but in much deeper, booming dramatic voice. We also included music from the montage scene of our film as it is the most upbeat music in the film and will help get the listeners excited rather than if we had used some of the more downbeat music that was used in our film.

Our radio trailer was quite brief, lasting only between 30-40 seconds we felt that it needed to be brief, direct and exciting.

One more form of advertising we used for our film was the viral adverts. As our film is about four criminals. We decided to create 4 wanted posters for each main character in our film. We gave details about the characters on the posters.

What added to the effectiveness of the posters and what made them appear to be from the films ‘world’ is that these posters actually appeared in our film. Not only that, but the main character in the film actually interacted with them.This will help the people who see these posters and then get them immersed even further into the films ‘universe’.

Many other films, including films in the crime thriller genre, use viral advertising to market their films. Viral advertisings main aim to become as popular as possible by being passed around by people, usually on social networking sites or by other means on the internet.

One film in the crime genre that used viral advertising well was the film ‘The Dark Knight’, which involved leaving users clues to an online treasure hunt which would eventually lead the users to a website which hinted at the films antagonist, the Joker.
