people can lack confidence when going it alone.

As a beginner it is important to learn all the basics of the keyboard. The only way to really

master this is to dig deep and get involved. To help learn the different areas of the keyboard

try playing some simple short tunes.

hand only and then move onto another that is played just with your left hand.

Always start your practice session with a scale of your choice. This is to ensure your hands

are warmed up and ready to go.

When you start to learn write down a list of the top 5 songs you would like to play the most,

then speak to your tutor and see if these are suitable for a beginner.

Most songs can be adapted to suit any level of player and there are plenty of books out

there designed for beginners.

It is important when learning keyboard to play songs that you know really well and that you

have the original music to. A great way to master a song is to listen to the song through your

iPad or stereo and to then listen out for the parts of the song you are playing on the

keyboard. This will also help with your timing and rhythm control.

Make sure you have your keyboard set up in quiet surroundings. Try and get a permanent

home for your keyboard where you can go and escape. This way when you do go to practice

you won’t have any distractions and you can utilise your time to the maximum.

extend the time takes you to achieve your goals.
