Which of my twelve different
login/ passwords do I use here?
How do I share this large data file and still keep my
info secure?Hmm, what did I do with that paper
study card?
Why is my College course
site different from my DCE course site?
Why can’t I find an HMS
email address?
It’s hard to work
remotely and when you are
on the go.
Older technologies and platforms not supported on devices
Learning Management Systems
4 Student Information Systems, many paper-based processes
12 Login/password combinations, on average, per person
12 Email/calendar systems across the University
20Multiple, fragmented info security tools/systems

Which of my twelve
login/ passwords do I use here?
How do I share this large data file with just a few
colleagues and still keep my info secure?
I am still submitting
paper study cards. There has to be a better way!
It takes so much time to move my
FAS course content to a
different platform to teach at DCE.
One Harvard, but no one Harvard email or
calendar?I can’t
access this on my
tablet or mobile.

CANVAS FOR HARVARDIMPORTANT DATES & MILESTONESThe University is well on its way to a move to Canvas:
- In spring 2015, 30% of courses used Canvas - In AY 14-15, 93% of undergrads took a course with Canvas site
In fall 2015: - Canvas will be the default for FAS - Other Schools using course iSites are planning migration surge
By June 30, 2016, all course iSites will have migrated to Canvas
Non-iSites Schools are migrating to Canvas too: - HKS: Sharepoint to Canvas - HBS: Desire2Learn to Canvas - HMS: launching new MD program on Canvas
6
Standard iSites (department and bio sites) will be retired by July 2016 and replaced by OpenScholar, Sharepoint, and other options.
HARVARDKEYWHAT IS CHANGING?
• HarvardKey will replace PIN and other credentialing. • Benefits include:
– A single login name and password for nearly everything, for life – Enhanced information security standards, no requirement to
change passwords annually – Easier on-boarding process for new hires
7
HARVARDKEYWHAT IS THE TIMELINE?
• HarvardKey will “go-live” on September 22 for alumni and October 6th
for FAS and others
– New users will be prompted to claim their HarvardKey – Existing PIN users will have the option to claim a HarvardKey at
their discretion – During the claiming process, users will be asked to choose a new
password and provide recovery information – Users can continue to use PIN and FAS login until they are
ready to transition
