ALFRED HITCHCOCK

• Alfred Hitchcock was and English film director and producer who was well known for creating suspense, his nickname was ‘The Master of Suspense.’ He also mastered in psychological thrillers.

• From this director, there are some inspirations that I can take such as building tension into a surprise or a shock. I can also make a twist on the storyline through the use of characters; I could show one side of a character at the beginning of our opening sequence and then show another side as it carries on. A twist can also be created by showing the audience what they think is going to happen but it turns out to be different, this is something that Alfred Hitchcock was known for doing in his films and it was his way of deceiving and tricking the audience creating humour.

MARTIN SCORSESE

• Martin Scorsese is an American director, producer, screenwriter, actor and film historian. He has been in the industry for more than 53 years. In his work he mostly addresses Sicilian-American identity, Roman Catholic concepts of guilt and redemption, modern crime and gang conflict. He is also known for portraying violence and profanity in his films.

• From this director, there are some inspirations that I can take such as his representation of violence. As I look at how he portrays violence I can use his ways as an influence for my opening sequence. I also admire how he acknowledges crime and gang conflict as a way to show the dangerous events that happen in this world and the morals of them being wrong. For our opening sequence we can use crime and violence as a message to those who watch it. The message could be how it is morally wrong and why people do it.
