Experience authentic religious Candomblé Rituals of Flower Offerings to the Goddess of the Sea during a panoramic Day Cruise in Salvador, Brazil with ILS3 Discover.Travel Group

Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, January 25th, 2011 --- The celebration of the Tribute to Iemanjá is an afro-Brazilian ritual that happens every year on 2nd of February in the Rio Vermelho neighborhood of Salvador da Bahia, ILS3 Discover.Travel Groups specialized Travel Consultants explain. The community of fishermen in Rio Vermelho organizes the festivities on the beach beneath the statue dedicated to Iemanja, the Goddess of the Sea according to the tradition of the Afro-Brazilian religion Candomblé. Starting in the early morning hours of February second, thousands of candomblé followers, tourists and visitors line up on the beach to put flowers, perfume and other presents in the water to celebrate the orixá of the waters, observing anxiously if the offerings are being accepted by the goddess Yemanjá or returned to the beach by the waves. Later during the day, fishermen’s boats beautifully decorated and filled with more flowers and presents set off in a procession out into the open sea to make their offerings there.
