Your responses help us to sell appropriate advertising space and so minimise the cost of our services to you or even pro-vide some of them at no charge at all.    They also enable us to personalise services to our readers.    iGO eBooks uses cookies as a means of offering and providing customisable and person-alised services.    However, your browser has settings that will allow you to accept all cookies, be informed as cookies arrive or reject all cookies.    The downside of rejecting all cookies is that we are then unable to match the site content we offer you to what we know about your preferences from your previous visits.    In addition, advertising networks that serve ads onto iGO eBooks sites may use their own cookies.    iGO eBooks col-lects IP addresses for system administration, for independent audit and to report aggregate information to our advertisers.   By this we can see how our sites are being used, for example, what services and facilities are popular, and how long users spend on particular pages. This is data about our users' brows-ing actions and patterns and it does not identify anyone individually.    When you telephone iGO eBooks, or someone who is dealing with calls on our behalf, we may record the con-versation to ensure the security of any transaction discussed, to help us to review our quality of service and to assist in the training and development of the employees who take such calls.    How does iGO eBooks use my information?    iGO eBooks primary goal in collecting personal information con-cerning subscribers is to provide them with a customised expe-rience of our site.

By knowing a little about you, iGO eBooks is able to deliver more relevant advertisements and content to you, and by dem-onstrating the quality of our users we are able to secure adver-tising funding which keeps down the costs to the users.     When delivering targeted advertisements, iGO eBooks acts merely as the intermediaries.    Advertisers give us an adver-tisement and tell us the type of audience they want to reach, (for example, design specialists, or pump buyers in process in-dustries). We take the advertisement and display it to users meeting the relevant criteria.    When you join one of our e-Mail newsletter services the e-Mails you receive may include advertising material and links to advertisers' web sites.    This does not mean that your details have been passed to the adver-tiser in question.   Furthermore, at the end of each newsletter you will find either a hyperlink or a description of a route to have yourself removed from further editions of that newsletter.    iGO eBooks undertakes research on our users' demographics, interests and behaviour based on the informa-tion provided to us upon registration, during a promotion, from our server log files or from surveys.   We do this to better understand and serve you, the user.   This research is com-piled and analysed on an aggregated basis. iGO eBooks may share this aggregated data with advertisers or business part-ners. We will use our best endeavours to ensure, where reason-able, that our business partners and advertising customers have effective on-line privacy policies and are registered un-der the Data Protection Act (as all of our relevant businesses are).    When you are on a IGO eBooks site and are asked for personal information, you may not be sharing that informa-

tion with iGO eBooks alone.   Some services are offered jointly with a partner group. In order to provide this co-branded serv-ice to you, it is necessary for us to share your personal informa-tion with those partner companies.

Promotions and competitions that run on iGO eBooks site(s) may be sponsored by companies outside the iGO eBooks or may be co-sponsored by us and another body. Some or all data collected during a promotion may be shared with the sponsor.   Please be aware that iGO eBooks advertisers or web sites that have links on our site may collect personally identifi-able information about you. The information practices of those web sites linked to iGO eBooks are not covered by this privacy statement.   With whom does iGO eBooks share my in-formation?

iGO eBooks and its associates, or agents are prohibited by vir-tue of the Data Protection Act 1998 from disclosing any of your personally identifiable information except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or under the circumstances described below. The following describes some of the ways that your information may be disclosed.   We may disclose your personal information to business partners or sponsors, but this is drawn to your attention prior to data col-lection. Some or all data collected during any iGO eBooks pro-motions may be shared with a sponsor. If personally identify-

ing data about you will be shared, we will tell you when we col-lect the data.    If you subscribe from a site hosted by iGO eBooks, the information obtained during the purchasing trans-action, and the information you give such as your credit card number and contact information, is provided to the merchant concerned.   This is to enable transactions to take place.   You agree that iGO eBooks and its associates, or agents have no re-sponsibility or liability for any such independent store privacy policies.    From time to time, you may be offered the opportu-nity to receive materials or special offers from selected third parties.   If you opt-in to receive information from these third parties you are giving us permission to share your name and e-Mail and/or physical address details with them.   Under con-fidentiality agreements, iGO eBooks may match user informa-tion with third party data.    Also, iGO eBooks may disclose ag-gregated user statistics in order to describe our services to pro-spective partners, advertisers, and other third parties, and for other lawful purposes.

Finally, iGO eBooks may also disclose account information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating iGO eBooks Terms, Database Rights or Copyright or may be causing injury to or interference with, (either intentionally or unintention-ally), iGO eBooks rights or property, other iGO eBooks users, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.    iGO eBooks or its sponsors or partners bodies may, from time to

time, contact you regarding our publications, services or activities.    On some types of iGO eBooks promotions, we will ask for your e-Mail address in order to update you on your score, entries and status. When you participate in these types of promotions, you automatically receive promotion-related e-Mail.   Sometimes these promotion-related e-Mail messages may include targeted advertisements.   From time to time iGO eBooks does rent or sell user information to other reputable organisations as permitted under the Data Protection Act 1998.   If you do not wish to allow your data to be shared, you can choose not to use a particular service, not to participate in certain promotions or contests, or you can select to opt out of your information being shared on pages we ask you to com-plete and send to us.    No data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed entirely secure.   While we strive to protect your personal information, iGO eBooks can neither ensure nor warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk.   Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.

Keeping your information secure

We know that your privacy is very important to your business/organisation and that you take the security of your information seriously.

We have implemented technology and security policies, rules and measures to protect the personal information we have un-der our control, both on and off-line, from improper access, use, alteration, destruction and loss.

Here are some of the ways we protect your informa-tion

Access to our online services is protected by something called  SSL 128 bit session encryption.    Encryption is the process through which sensitive information is scrambled before it is transmitted so that it remains private even if it is intercepted.    128-bit encryption is the strongest encryption currently used commercially.    However, unless your Internet browser supports 128-bit encryption you will not be able to take advantage of this level of security (See the How you can help keep your information secure section below).

Off-line, your information is kept securely in our databases and location.    We only allow entrusted sources to access to your information, and then only if they need it for a specific authorised task.   The computers on which we store your infor-mation are kept in a secure environment.

22

Page 24: iGO eBooks - Website(s) Policies, Procedures, & Practices

We do not store payment card details from this website, ex-cept those collected through the PayPal  service for the pur-pose of payments.

We will take all reasonable steps to protect your information, but data can never be guaranteed 100% secure.    Please note that we will not be liable for any breach of security unless we have been negligent.

How you can help keep your information secure

As you would expect of us, we will take all reasonable meas-ures to ensure that the information you provide through our website(s) is held and managed securely.   However, there is a lot that you can do to help keep your information safe not just on our website, but whenever you provide information online.

Here are some simple ways you can improve the security of your information

Use a strong (alphanumeric) password

Read our advice on choosing a strong password.    This will help your business/organisation choose a password that will be difficult for other people to guess but easy for you to re-member.

Use a secure password hint

Do not make your password hint the same as your password!   Your password hint should not give away your password to someone your business/organisation knows well, for example 'my road' or 'my dog's name'.

Keep your password private and secure

Your password is a key to your personal information and on-line identity.    Do not tell anyone your password or write it down. If you are concerned that somebody else knows your password, you can change it on our website by going to the

23

Page 25: iGO eBooks - Website(s) Policies, Procedures, & Practices

Edit your profile page.   We recommend that you change your password from time to time.

Use a Secure Browser

Encryption is the process through which sensitive information is scrambled before it is transmitted so that it remains private even if it is intercepted. 128-bit encryption is the strongest en-cryption currently available, but not all browser versions sup-port it.

Five popular browsers that support 128-bit encryption are

Firefox version 1.6 and later versions (v7.2 for Mac or later).

Safari  (For Macs) version 6.0.4 and later versions.

Google  Chrome version 26.0.1410.65 and later versions.

Opera  version 11.61 and later versions.

Microsoft  Internet Explorer version 5.5 and later versions (v5.2 for Mac or later).

Security upgrades for some older browser versions are avail-able. We recommend that you contact your preferred browser provider, (or web administrator responsible for your server) for further information.

How we use cookies

A Cooke is a small text file that is saved to the hard drive of your computer when you use a website.

Our website uses both persistent and session cookies. Persis-tent cookies are cookies that stay on your computer perma-nently until you manually delete them. Session cookies delete themselves automatically when you leave a website and go to another one or shut down your browser.

to be updated.   Alternatively you can make your browser give you an accept or reject option each time our website tries to create or update a cookie on your computer.

Please note

1. Neither of these options will remove cookies that have al-ready been placed on your computer or prevent them from be-ing read. To delete existing cookies you will need to search your hard drive for the relevant cookie files and delete them. But please note a deleted cookie will often be replaced the next time you visit the website that put it there.

2. If your browser is set up to reject application session cook-ies, some applications on our website will not work.

3. Because the Site cookie may contain or refer to some of your personal information we recommend you do not register for our website from a publicly available computer.

We use website meters  and e-trackers'  as Website Analytic tool(s).    This information, together with similar information from other users, helps us learn things like what kinds of cli-ents our website attracts, which of our services and web pages most interest our clients, and what kinds of information/

material our client's like to view.    This in turn helps us make our website more effective and useful.

The information in the Website Analytic tool(s) is/are anony-mous. It is also meaningless to anyone but us.    Although Double-Click logs the information for us, it is only allowed to process the information according to our instructions. No-body sees the information except us.

If you would prefer us not to collect your information for web-site analytics you can opt-out by clicking here.   This will cause a do not use instruction to be added to the Website Analytic tool(s).      You should not delete the Website Analytic cookie from your hard drive because doing so will cause a new, active Website Analytic cookie to be saved on your computer next time you visit our website.

Please note that the opt-out will only work for the computer and browser you are using when you opt-out.  If you use more than one computer or browser you will have to opt-out from each of them.
