Director Christopher Nolan first developed Inception , based

on the notion of "exploring the idea of people sharing a dream space — entering a dream space and sharing a dream. That gives you the ability to access somebody's unconscious mind.”

Furthermore, "being able to extract information from somebody's brain would be the obvious use of that because obviously any other system where it's computers or physical media, whatever — things that exist outside the mind — they can all be stolen ... “

Ariadne, a graduate student of architecture who is recruited to construct the various dreamscapes, which are described as mazes.

Hypnotism therapy is a process used to access someone’s subconscious mind and change the way he looks at the world. It is used to treat everything from chronic pain to depression, and sometimes it's even used to summon repressed memories from deep within a person's mind. The hypnotist will generally require a patient to focus on something and relax while speaking to him and guiding his thoughts to put him into a hypnotized state. Contrary to many popular beliefs, the hypnotized individual will generally remember the experience perfectly.
