INTRODUCTION
This presentation is going to be about infinitives and gerunds. The learner will learn their definitions, how they are used and when they can be used.
Thorugh examples the learners will be able to identify them.
OBJECTIVE
You will be able to use infinitives and gerunds.
You will be able to identify their differences.
You will be able to analyse them in sentences.
INFINITIVES
An infinitive is to + the verb (base form)
Examples:
To eat
To run
To walk
GERUNDS
A gerund (-ing) is a noun made from a verb. To form a gerund add –ing to the base form of the verb
Examples:
Kissing
Hugging
Looking
ACTIVITIES
Complete the sentences with the verb in the parenthesis. Use either infinitives or gerunds.
1.Ana is a very healthy person, she likes (eat) __________ all kind of vegetables
2.Pablo and Mario are best Friends and they like to go (run) _________ everyday.
3.She likes (swim) ________ In the pool.
4.I like (ride) ___________ my bike in the park.
5.I can’t imagine Pedro (go) ________ by bike.
6.Are you thinking about (visit) __________ London?
7.The teacher doesn’t expect us (study) ________ hard.
8.The man asked me how (get) ______________ to the airport.
9.He want (buy) ____________ a car.
10.She wants (dive) ___________ in the ocean.
For the second activity you have to write a paragraph (about any topic you want)
using gerunds and infinitives.
