This is a blue print for the front of my album cover. The cover takes inspiration from the invisible man

poster on the right. The poster mirrors the music video as it is

about psycho killer villains in the style of these types of film. As with

the poster, the antagonist of the video is in the top left whereas the

protagonists are in the bottom right. All of these characters are

band members so will fit with album conventions. I will try to

take photos of the band and turn them into drawing like pictures. I

have been experimenting with Photoshop to do this (as you can

see on the right) but it may be difficult. The spine has two

symbols on (indicated by S) since this seems to be a convention of albums. Furthermore, I followed

conventions of the albums on the left and put the titles in the centre, with the artist first and the album

second, in a different font.

(look closely, it is meant to be like a painting)

This cover takes inspiration from silent films, this is basically a backup if the horror poster is too hard to do.The white circles represent the heads of the band members. They will be in black and white and staring at the camera. There will be duct tape or the equivalent across their mouths to connote the silent film theme and the horror theme. The Q in the top centre is not final. The circle will hold a trademark symbol of the band though I may not call the band Q-Branch or use that particular Q in the end.The ‘pretty patterns’ represent the patterns you see on the speech frames in silent films such as the one below. I will probably create a pattern on either Photoshop/after effects, or paint. The font for the album and band titles may change, but I think this is suitable to connote the silent film theme as it looks quite 20s.

I will also put a filter or something onto the image via Photoshop etc. to

make it look old such as this>

The first inside panel will have a lot of writing on, which means it is ideal for a silent film text board. This is basically the same as the backup cover.

The designs takes inspiration from this

back cover

This one follows the same theme. It’s a bit underdeveloped to be honest, but I figure you wont see this much since there will be a disk there.

This blueprint doesn’t offer much insight to be honest. It will follow the theme of old movie posters with the photos. The fonts match the fonts on the front of the album. The songs I have chosen are mostly New Wave songs, and are all suitably sombre or about scary things as psycho killer is.I noticed that some albums come with a DVD, I thought this would be a good idea since it ties in with the music video. As such, there is a DVD logo on the back. I haven’t yet done all the copyright text and stuff but you get the idea of where it is at least. I put the logo of the record label I chose earlier on as well.

The information bits are all in a yellow banner which I was influenced to do by the poster on the left.
