A Brief Introduction to Electrospraying and Electrospinning

Presented by Rameshwar And Sunil Kumar

ElectrosprayingAtomization of liquid by electrical forces.

In this method a liquid droplet which is subjected to electrical shear force, passes from the nozzle at high voltage.

The size and charge of droplet can adjusted by controlling the flow rate and applied voltage on nozzle.

In electrospraying the droplet can be extremely small, like it may go down to nanometers.

The motion of electrically charged droplets (deflection and focusing) are controlled by electric field.

Difference Between Electrospraying and Electrospinning

Electrospinning

Solution droplets comes out in the form of fibre jet.

In the formation of nano fibre.

Generally Viscous or viscoelastic solution used.

Electrospraying

Solution droplets comes out in the form of tinny droplets.

In the formation of nano particle.

Non viscous or non viscoelastic solution used.
