In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media

Unlike the other two magazines, the only images in my contents page are of the main feature. Like Kerrang! my magazine has lots of images on the the contents but unlike Kerrang! The images are only of the main feature band like Rocksound

The text for Rock Sound is all basic in color. Whereas Roar Music magazine mixes up the colors of text it used.

Both predominantly are an image of the main feature.

The most noticeable words on both, is the name of the band.

There is only one image on the Rock Sound double page spread, unlike Roar Music which has images of the band and their merchandise (CD’s)

Both have a large noticeable quote in the same text as the features name.

Rocksound has a small image which is understood by readers of the magazine.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

ROAR MUSIC, What social

groups does it represent?Alternative People-

This magazine represents the people who are looked at

strangely while walking down the road because they dress

differently and listen to different music. Music that isn’t in the charts or isn’t know by every

person in the country.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Bauer Media would be the best idea for the producer of this magazine, simply because the company already publishes three magazines being Q, Mojo, and only one rock based magazine, Kerrang!

The only real competition for ROAR MUSIC! would be Kerrang! Magazine, and Rock Sound Magazine.Bauer already publishes Kerrang! Most alternative people read either Kerrang! or Rock Sound. Due to ROAR MUSIC! Bauer could also take some of the Rock Sound readers for their profit too.

How did you attract/

address your audience?

I saw images of people who

dress like me.I saw the names of

bands I love on the front cover.

The font on the cover looked more interesting than all

the other magazines.

It was only £1.99 and was in my genre of music interest.

I wanted to try a new magazine and this one

didn’t look too weird.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

All sorts of technologies have been used

to create magazines, from their front

covers to even little things like where the

page number is formatted to fit into the

corner perfectly. Not only in making the magazines are

technologies used but even in editing

pictures to fit, or seem more appealing.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it

to the full product?

Page 11: Jay Kee-Pinner's Music Magazine Evaluation

Compared to the original magazine, made for a student magazine, the music based one is far more presentable. With pictures which seem more appealing, being based on something most people find really amusing, and the fonts used to attract attention. I’ve learnt that making the magazine more appealing to viewers takes time and effort as well as cooperation form certain people.

Overall the final music magazine is far better set out and more attractive to readers.
