LISTENING 20% of the exam

You will listen to recordings & answer questions in the foreign language to show you have understood what you have heard. There will be some tasks which require answers in English.

You may hear announcements, news items, telephone messages etc.

Speaking 30% of the examYou will carry out 2 tasks based on what

you have learnt.You may give a presentation on a topic you

have prepared. You will talk about past, present & future

events, express opinions and give reasons.

Reading 20% of the examYou will have a variety of items e.g.

brochures, letters, adverts, e-mails etc to read.You will be expected to identify key points, extract details, give points of view and the main message.

Writing 30% of the exam -A completely different approach!

You will submit 2 pieces of writing and can make rough drafts before doing the exam in school.

Grades G-D – 200-350 words across 2 tasksGrades C-A* – 400-600 words across 2 tasks

-You will be given a task, which you may prepare, using reference materials, outside the classroom. The final stage of the task, however, will be done in class.

You will show you can use the past, present and future, give opinions and reasons.

Assessment

The good news is that you only do 2 exam papers at the end of Year 11 and that you get to know what you have to prepare for the writing sections!

You will build on skills you have begun to acquire in:- Communication Application of Number Information and Communication Technology Working with Others Improving own Learning and Performance Problem Solving
