Col 1:15-18 KJV

(15) Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

(16) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

• WHAT IS DEATH?

Joh 1:4 In the Dragon is death and ; and the death was the darkness of men. (my translation)

Death and LIFE reign(ed) for certain periods

Page 14: LIFE: A Synopsis

Rom 5:14-21

(14) Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses [the Lawgiver], even over those who did not themselves transgress [a positive command] as Adam did. Adam was a type (prefigure) of the One Who was to come [in reverse, the former destructive, the Latter saving]. [Gen. 5:5; 7:22; Deut. 34:5.]

(17) For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

(18) Well then, as one man's trespass [one man's false step and falling away led] to condemnation for all men, so one Man's act of righteousness [leads] to acquittal and right standing with God and LIFE for all men.

(21) So that, [just] as sin has reigned in death, [so] grace might reign also through righteousness (right standing with God) which issues in eternal LIFE through Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) our Lord.

QUESTION: WHAT IS LIFE? WHAT IS DEATH?

ANSWER: A SPIRIT

• Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of LIFE [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.

• Rev 6:8 So I looked, and behold, an ashy pale horse, and its rider's name was Death, and Hades (the realm of the dead) followed him closely. And they were given authority and power over a fourth part of the earth to kill with the sword and with famine and with plague (pestilence, disease) and with wild beasts of the earth. [Ezek. 5:12; Hos. 13:14.]

Page 17: LIFE: A Synopsis

• The Word of GOD rides a white horse.

• This Word is the way, the truth and the LIFE

• Death likewise rides a horse

• Each are followed

• The WORD by troops of HEAVEN clothed in WHITE

• DEATH is flowed by HADES. But why?

• They were given authority and power to kill with the sword and with famine and with plague (pestilence, disease) and with wild beasts of the earth

Page 18: LIFE: A Synopsis

• There are only two (2) who qualify to seed/give authority and power to Death to kill

• The first is GOD

• Second is man

• We must watch our utterances

• Death and life lies in the power of the OUR tongue

• The Dragon could do this before the Cross but not afterwards—hence death reigning from Adam to Moses (the law)—not after the Cross when Grace reigns (Rom 5:14-21)

QUESTION: What is the Life?

ANSWER

Joh 14:6 AMP Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.

Joh 11:25 KJV Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

See “the way” in the next scripture. Jesus is the Life and the way to the Life is narrow. FEW find the way. Not all here will find the way

Mat 7:13-14

(13) Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away TO DESTRUCTION (Death), and many are those who are entering through it.

(14)But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to LIFE, and few are those who find it. [Deut. 30:19; Jer. 21:8.]

TWO GATES DISCUSSED. Where do each lead?

Not primarily about heaven and hell in the after-life but LIFE & DESTRUCTION in the here and now

ORIGIN & HISTORY

Page 22: LIFE: A Synopsis

ORIGIN & HISTORY

• Gen 2:7 KJV And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath (nesha mah) of life ; and man became a living soul.

nesha mah: From H5395; vital breath, divine inspiration, …, soul, spirit.

• Man sinned and died? Why? Because sin has wages or a consequence—death (Rom 6:23)

• Jesus was then sent to sort out the mess• Why was he sent? OR For what reason did Father give His Son?

• What did he accomplish? Freedom from sin

• What implication does that have for death?7/17/2016LRF CENTRAL COMMUNITY ASSEMBLY 22

Page 23: LIFE: A Synopsis

1Co 15:55-57 KJV

(55) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (death followed by hades/grave)

(56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

(57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

WHAT VICTORY? OVER WHAT?

Question: O death, where is your sin? When the sting of serpent is removed, is it any more dangerous?

The WORD of GOD gave victory over sin, thus destroying the sting of death or the ability of death to kill

Page 24: LIFE: A Synopsis

Rom 6:18 Being then made FREE from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Rom 6:22-23 But now being made FREE from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting LIFE.

(23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God iseternal LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord.

V23 contrasts 2 things: sin & life

It takes WORK to operate in death but no work to operate in LIFE. It’s a gift of GOD

Legal matter

Rom 8:2 KJV For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me FREE from the law of sin and death.

If we are FREE from SIN and its consequence DEATH, what else is there but LIFE
