childhood dreams

Students are the stones and the ripples of water created are the infinite
effects of teaching, whether you see the final
product or not.
A flowing river in which we are creating 'reality' together, inter-subjectively in a dynamic interaction
Like Parenting: Requires enthusiasm, commitment and an enormous amount of patience.
Teaching is not the filling of a
pail, but the lighting of
a fire
Teachers grow and cultivate the seeds of knowledge they plant within their students.

Patriach Huineng
I have studied the Mahaparinirvana
sutra for many years, yet there
are many areas i do not quite
understand. Please enlighten me.
I am illiterate. Please read out the characters to me and perhaps i will be able to explain the meaning.
You cannot even recognize the characters. How are you able then to understand the meaning?
Truth has nothing to do with words. Truth can be likened to
the bright moon in the sky.
Words, in this case, can be likened to a finger. The finger can point to the moon's location. However, the finger is not the moon. To look at the moon, it
is necessary to gaze beyond the finger, right?
our work
Our Work• what kind of methodologies can we learn from students and faculty
• learn from others how best to teach what I learned and how to create the best methods, approaches and systems for my students
• to teach as a collaborative
• a space to communicate radical ideas
• ways to improve philosophy, like grades, to have conversations, ways to make the classroom space have wider possibilities
• to engage in co-construction with each other, pedagogy, assessment and?
• what is best way to transmit our knowledge
• more learning with less work with everybody in the process, optimization equation. (input that is FUN and comes out as work)
• Pool collective experiences and pull out the gems of what works
• advocate an archaic revival, would like different ways of teaching, like pictures, dancing, interviewing
• to flip around roles, teacher to student and student to teacher
• How do we make our students better consumers of our teaching?
• Personal Transformation - unlearning how I was taught, new learning strategies to become a better learner
• How to maintain responsibility as teacher teaching
stories of significance
If we stop lobbying pedagogical points at each other and spoke about who we are as teachers, a remarkable thing might grow within us and among us, instead of hardening as they do when we defend our fixed positions from the foxhole of the pedagogy wars.
