I used the contrast tool soThat I could darken out the girl’s face to make her look “eerie” and “anonymous” so that all the audience can focuson is the doll I used the burn tool Make her hair brighter as well as her PJ’s which make her look “innocent” As they have hearts on them.
Step One - The Picture
I then added the title “Empire” for my magazine. I chose Empire because it is a successful and
popular magazine so it would be great publicity for a new horror
movie especially if it is a “special horror edition” because Empire rarely does that which makes it
more appealing for people because it is different. I used the drop
shadow effect to make a slight darkness overshadow empire to go with the “spooky” theme of horror.
Step two
I added the small details such
As the barcode, date, a website
so that the reader can find more
Information online about
The issue and a price of the
Magazine. I also added a
Banner at the bottom with
information telling the reader
That there is information on
the top 100 horrors empire likes
which will interest the audience
To see if they agree.
Step Three
I decided to move the model to theright of the page because that way youwill be able to see the other cover linesand also the full view of the girl holding the doll so the writing doesn’t cover the dolls face. Also I made the bannerssmaller so you can see more of the girl’sface and her bare foot which I thoughtwas effective because it shows hervulnerability.
Changes
I then added the extra cover stories to see if it looked effective which I believe it now does. I also added the cross symbol as many of Empire’s magazines have this symbol above their cover stories.
Step four
Finally, I added the main story cover for my magazine about our horror “dolly” I have used the same font as my poster “papyrus” to keep the theme of the title and I added a shadow backdrop so it stands out against the photo but it also adds an eerie effect.
