Inventor : John Pemburton - a pharmacist

John S. Pemberton (July 8, 1831 – August 16,1888)

In 1885,He was wounded in the Battle of Columbus. ( a part of the American Civil War)

He used morphine to ease the pain.

He became addicted to it.


He was interested in Vin Mariani, French tonic wine

containing kola nut (Cola) and Damiana. (a Mexican herbals)He could use it for refreshment.


After that, he produced his own medicines “Pemberton's French Wine Coca”

It was mixed with coca leaf, kola nut

damiana It was very famous. The recipe was confidential

until now!


In 1886, he accidentally blended the base syrup with carbonated water and got a very delightful drink.The beverage was named Coca-Cola, selling for 5 cents a glass.

It was first bottled in 1894.


The first advertisement in the newspaper.

For more than 120 years,the concentrate was sold to licensed Coca-Cola bottlers throughout the world, including Thailand.


In 1949, the first Coca-Cola factory was set up at Lan Laung Road, Bangkok.


Now, after 65 years, there are 3 companies;

a. Coca-Cola (Thailand) production control and marketing

b. Thai Numtip - manufactures & distributes to 62 provinces, except 14 provinces in southern Thailand.

c. Hardtip - manufactures & distributes to 14 provinces in southern Thailand.
