MapQuest can be found on the Internet (www.mapquest.com) or on your cell phone.

The mobile application for MapQuest is free! MapQuest uses satellites to help tract where

you are located and where you need to go.

Overview of MapQuest

MapQuest was founded in 1967 as Cartographic Services, a division of R.R Donnelly and Sons in Chicago, Illinois. This company produced paper maps and map books.

In 1969, MapQuest moved to Lancaster, PA. The company R.R Donnelly was responsible for

creating MapQuest by making maps with computers in the mid 1980’s for customers.

In 2000, MapQuest was acquired by the American Online.

The MapQuest headquarters are located in Lancaster and Denver, Colorado.

MapQuest provides drivers with safe and reliable directions to help people get to their destinations.

MapQuest is able to calculate how long it will take to reach your destination and how much money you will need for gas.

MapQuest also locates banks, ice cream parlors, schools, businesses, parks, hotels, airports, etc. along the way during your travel. (this is optional)

Purpose of MapQuest

MapQuest has recently teamed up with Yellow Pages for local listings, address information, and phone numbers. This can be activated on MapQuest’s website, or on AOL.

In April 2007, MapQuest teamed up with OnStar General Motors, which is a turn-by-turn navigation service, that will allow OnStar subscribers to plan their driving routes on MapQuest.com.

Company Partnerships

MapQuest can be used by anyone in society. MapQuest is helpful for a mother who is lost and is trying to get her son into school on time. MapQuest is helpful for a salesman searching for his client's home. MapQuest is helpful for a family traveling hundreds of miles across the country to visit family members for the holidays. MapQuest can be used by anyone, anywhere, in any driving situation.

How is MapQuest Used in Society?

Since the production of the iPhones, MapQuest has created a free application for the phone that allows users to get turn-by-turn navigation through their cell phones.

There are many websites like MapQuest. Some of these may include Google Maps, Maps.com, ezdriving.com, and mapsonus.com.

MapQuest is truly more sufficient than all driving instruction websites because it is fast, easy to use, and because it is constantly adding new elements to their websites and applications to impress the public.

MapQuest does not require a password or username for directions, but does require one for My Places.

You do not have to sign up and pay anything for getting directions.

MapQuest also does not allow viewers to edit the information actually on the site, or post comments about the site.

Instead, MapQuest has a Blog with a link at the bottom of the page on the website.

This Blog allows viewers to post their opinions and comments about the website. Some people also post information on how to have a safe, happy, and quiet car ride.
