Market research results
Purpose of my research was to analyse my target audience to what
they would be interested in my magazine. I used a survey to
question my audience this is primary research this research provides
me with quantative data this allows me to create charts to bring my
results to a conclusion.
This graph shows the results of my gender
question on my survey. My results state
that majority of my target audience are
males this will influence my magazine to
be more masculine.
The pie chart represents the age of the
audience I surveyed. Half of the recipients
of my survey are ranged for the age 17-21
the second majority was 13-16.I will try
and subject my magazine for 13-21 year
olds to focus on the majority.

This graph shows the results of my
Genre survey question. The results
show that the majority of my
target audience prefer the rock
genre this will influence my
magazine style heavily with what it
fonts and layout are like.
This chart represents the
prefered way people listen to
music as seen on the chart the
most popular answers are mobile
phone and Pc/laptop this could
influence my magazine to give
away more free products related
to pcs and mobile phones such as digital downloads of a song.
From the results of my survey I
know that the majority of my
target audience download their
music from the internet. From
this I could include some
internet related articles in my
magazine such as top 10
downloaded songs of the week.

My results state that a greater
number of my target audience
prefer a magazine to cost from
£1.99 t0 £2.99 because this
question was maximum I would
use the price £1.99 to satisfy
more of my audience.
From the results the larger
portion of the people I surveyed
never read a magazine along with
the results on how much they are
willing to pay I will make my
decision to release my magazine
weekly so I can increase sales and
people who never read a magazine
have a greater choice of magazines.
This chart shows the results of my
question ‘what music magazines have
you read?’. The results from the survey
show that my audience is more familiar
with ‘Q’ and ‘Kerrang’ this means my
magazine will be more influenced by
the rock style of magazines and this will
determine my layout design and image
over text choice.

Where do you seek new music?
Youtube
Magazines
Internet in general
Music channels
Local press
Here we see that most of the people I
surveyed would prefer to read more
interviews with bands/artists. From this I
know to include more of this content to
please my audience.
The final question my survey asked
‘where do you seek new music?’ from
these results I know to include articles
on new artists found on internet sites
such as YouTube and twitter.
By undergoing this survey I have discovered that my magazine should
be a rock magazine and include articles involving interviews with
bands and internet content such as YouTube this is because most of
my audience listen to music on their mobile phones and iPod and
acquire there music over the internet. I have also learned that my
magazine should be released every week for a maximum prince of
£1.99.
