People across the world resist corrupt and oppressive regimes. We at Maya Universe Academy have chosen an alternative; we
have created a movement focusing on empowerment, community, and education.
Each day we plant our feet on solid ground, ready to battle inequality with knowledge and love.
This is the change we strive for: This is the revolution we work towards.
We resolved to challenge the government by showing that the quality of education provided to children, especially in rural areas of Nepal, is abysmal and that we can do better with little or no resources.
It was then in 2011 we established our first classes and farms literally from inside a tent to delivering hope, love, and change through the empowerment of education.

Explaining the Economic Model.
•The community recognizes the power of education and the wonderful opportunities
that are afforded to their children at no monetary cost
•In exchange for the children’s admittance, the parents work two days per month in
operations. They contribute to the production process (eg: farming, sewing school
uniforms), or just help with facility construction and other needs.
Maya Universe Academy.
Explaining the Model.Maya Universe Academy emphasizes :
•Environmentally conscious and sustainable practices in all that we do. •The classrooms are constructed from an eco-friendly design using bamboo from our own farms. •They collect rainwater for washing, and harness the sun to power weekend movie screenings for the children

From Loans to Self-sustaining Social Enterprise
•In the beginning, the school survived only through the
support of friends, but soon infrastructure and more
organization was needed.
•The Maya were able to obtain bank loans to support their
project by using family property as collateral.
•This helped the team to leave the tents and build better
facilities, it strained family relationships.
•In communities where schools were established, it did not
take long for the villagers to understand the value of the
project, and soon they began contributing especially those
whose children were attending the new schools.
